Apple tries to control as much as they can on their platforms. Other platforms like Android and Windows take an approach of sharing responsibility for the overall quality between several different companies who can each point at each other and say "not it!" when a problem arrises.
I'm doing an embedded project using the B+. The main reason why I like the B+ is that I'm using all the new GPIO pins from that model. The A+ has the same GPIO pins which is awesome on a lower price device.
Why do we have to assume we can't make any changes to the nature of traffic lights to make them more easily machine readable?
Since it requires a car with a lot of cameras to maintain the road information accurate enough for the self driving car, why would lots of cars with fewer cameras do an equally good job?
For things like potholes, we can't self driving cars report information about how smooth a particular path along the road is so that pot holes are mapped?
Another good way to get ticketed is to drive a car with identifiers that you are from a different part of the country. After moving to Washington State, my ex-wife got pulled over and ticketed twice for bullshit because she had dealer logos on her car from where she bought it in Houston, Texas. Both times she was asked when she was returning to Houston and how long it had been since she had been to Houston. The car itself had Washington plates.
What is so wrong with a project failing? I really don't get it. This is a site to donate money for people to do a cool project. If none of the projects are allowed to fail, it would only be really conservative projects.
If you aren't willing to take that risk, don't fund a kickstarter. It is not a shopping site.
The questions raised in the advertising are pretty good ones. If the city bungles the fibre network and loses a lot of money, you'll be forced to pay for it in taxes. If Comcast fucks up and their costs go out of control, you at least have a choice to opt out. As much as I don't like Comcast and AT&T, I have no faith in government to be an ISP.
I have a child who has cerebral palsy and as a result has quite limited use of her right arm. Adding fingers to her left arm could maybe really benefit her.
I think that Ballmer is a decent operations guy, but obviously not a tech visionary, nor does he have good taste and an iron fist the way Steve Jobs did.
I think that Microsoft was in a very strong position when he took over and that it just isn't that hard to keep Microsoft on its current glide path given a halfway decent operations guy in charge. John Sculley, who is widely viewed to have run Apple into the ground, could almost certainly done just as good of a job running Microsoft as Steve Ballmer. I realize this is speculation, but I think its true.
The eMate does not take AA batteries if I remember correctly. I could dig though my closet to find my emate to double check, but I really don't feel like it.
One place I worked for (a major IBM software development lab) had a very old mainframe computer that they used for a few things. Although they could have replaced it with newer systems, I heard that part of the reason they did not do so was because the building's heating/cooling system was designed around this computer. If they removed it, it would be very difficult to re-balance the heating/cooling system. I don't know if this is really true, but I thought it was amusing anyway.
Am I the only one who is confused here? I don't know about the only one, but they did not switch to Intel because PPC couldn't be produced in high enough volume. They switched to Intel because Intel was performing better on low powered chips for laptops. Intel had invested heavily in that direction. Their whole roadmap was pointed in that direction. PPC wasn't - they had high power chips like the G5 and were planning more of the same. And furthermore switching to Intel had so many other benefits. The whole argument about "Apple uses some weird chip" "Its not weird - its bettter." "No, its worse." goes away completely when you're using the same chips as everyone else. Plus you get better Windows compatibility. But on mobile devices like the iPhone, no one cares. They just want low power. Plus, buying this just gives Apple maybe some more options in general.
I have no idea what the purpose of this acquisition is, but I'm sure it will be interesting to find out.
Well, not only the fact that you don't want to replace both pieces of equipment together, but I also was planning to buy a Guardian Maximus (from Newer Tech) which is a low cost RAID system. The idea is that I could set it up to have two disks that mirror each other and if one goes bad, I just replace it and don't lose my backup. To me, that's a pretty nice solution for home and Time Capsule doesn't quite do it.
I already have the Airport Extreme that supports Air Disk which I was lead to believe would be a target for Time Machine, but then they dropped that feature at the last minute. Now they come out with this which still doesn't do what I want. I hope that they will add back Air Disk support for Time Machine.
If you really think we should stay in Iraq, I can certainly understand and agree that Ron Paul is not the candidate for you.
Personally, I care about America, not Iraq. And therefore I want a president who will operate in the best interests of America, not be on some (very expensive) mission to help the people of the middle east. I don't see how the war in Iraq accomplished anything positive for America. Instead, it has caused the deficit to spike and the dollar to lose value.
Sears does NOT sell quality products. There are much better places to buy anything you want to buy including vacuum cleaners. I recommend a dedicated vacuum cleaner store.
Sears screwed me over once on a product I ordered through them at age 19. I haven't been back since. Their products are all shit and their company is a dinosaur.

If they are so concerned about not being shot that they are willing to violate people's rights, why become police in the first place?

The sky waitresses are on a power trip.
I wonder if you understand just how quickly a workplace can go down the tubes if the boss starts firing people who don't deserve it.
Mostly it shows me ads for things I've purchased recently. I recently bought a car. Now I see ads for that car everywhere online all the time.
I drive a 2013 Leaf. Not on the list for the widget.

You must ask yourself honestly : Why is it, when faced with stories like this, is your first instinct to claim that the woman lied or made it up?
Cui bono?
No, there isn't a law against filming or photographing someone in a public place with or without their knowledge.

Pretty much any API that involves threads should have a warning about potential loss of hair.
Seriously, I would have to agree that the 2600 is the best system ever.
