  1. Re:Its all about ease on Console Games Sales Beat Out PC · · Score: 2

    Merry Christmas Sir.
    Here's something so much better.

Let me cite the link for the less click-happy of the readership.

    P4 2.4 GHZ
    512 Megs Ram DDR-333
    80 gig HD
    DVD 16X
    CDRW 48X

    without shipping its $779
    With its $838
little less that a thousand, but we can still see that it costs leaps and bounds more than a console.

But I would rather play new demos for free than have to save up for a new game (dont start with Blockbuster, I will never pay to try a game)

Of course, I love computers more as a MP3/DVD/ONLINE GAMING machine because the options are so much better for the PC. Thats why it costs a freaking huge amount.

  3. For those of slashdot not totally anime maniacs.. on Spirited Away Still Has a Chance · · Score: 4, Informative

..Spirited away is written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, which is the same person who made Nausacaa Valley of the wind, and more recently (1997) Princess Mononoke.

It seems to be even more captivating than Princess Mononoke, yet somewhat disney oriented as it focuses on the adventures of a ten year old named chihiro who gets "spirited away" to a magical land; separated from her parents, she struggles to find a way home.(trailer)

Whoah, that was a mouthful. But it seems to be a really good movie, if your looking for something more than Treasure Planet.

Has anyone with a PS2 playing with a 56k modem or ISDN had a good experience playing online? Cause it just doesnt seem like they would, seeing as how it causes ping times between 350 - 500 ms and thats just not acceptable for any kind of action game. perhaps a card game? or a sports game, ala Madden or Tony Hawk

"If you have a USB broadband connection, fuck off.
If you have proprietory broadband software (AOL?), fuck off.
If you have ISDN, fuck off.
If you have dialup, fuck off."

Considering the effect on gaming that those particular groups have, I would whole-heartedly agree.

You may be a god at madden with your 56k on AOL, but on my side, its like waiting for christmas.

Side Note: USB broadband connections are seldom USB only. Most modems have ethernet and USB, and USB is not the best of the two. if your gonna spend the cash on x-box live, go get a 5 dollar Ethernet CAT5 cable. If you're still sour, just think of most computers that dont have broadband USB connectors on the back. USB for broadband is the exception, not the rule.

Games nowadays take up about 500 to 1.5 gigabytes of harddisk space (Diablo 2; Sims; etc..) not to mention having the webpage backed up (those are hi-rez images, thank you) a music server (yes I own the CD's, no I do not want to get a 200 disk CD changer, but yes I do want them encoded at the highest kbps for my enjoyment) Also have tons of editing software with picture libraries on here and God forbid we have school software (Mathlab, Adobe Acrobat Office XP ) But thats just the stuff I can think of. Imagine all the people out there with motion picture software that are editing movies and adding graphics... Thats a harddrive hog if I ever saw one..

Dont they already make these? They are called "COMPUTERS" and they can watch dvd's and save divx to HD and play games also. If you want to watch on a big screen tv, I would recommend a Radeon 8500 All in wonder Pro with TV In/Out along with something from Creative Labs to hook into your stereo system. Works wonders for parties.

It seems paypal equates to a warehouse with lots of lockboxes full of money. Money comes in or moves from lockbox to lockbox, and then goes out. However, there's no attendant, so the only thing between your money and a thief is just a key (bare with me on the bank info part, it just makes things more complicated) and a lockbox number. When a thief breaks into a lockbox, in a warehouse, normally we would call the police. But this warehouse is electronic, the lockboxes are electronic, the money, well, you get the idea.

Hell, I would probably feel safer giving my money to a backwoods county fair carney. Least I can try to kick his ass if he loses it, and would have some knowlege of who stole it from him, if he were robbed.
