I have been a Frank Zappa fan for a long time. On the album liner notes for the CD album "Joe's Garage Acts I, II and III"(1995 Zappa Family Trust) Zappa wrote:
"Eventually it was discovered that God did not want us to be all the same. This was bad news for the Government of the World as it seemed contrary to the doctrine of 'Portion Controlled Servings.'
Mankind must be made more uniformly if The Future was going to work.
Various ways were sought to bind us all together, but alas, sameness was unenforceable.
It was about this time that someone came up with the idea of Total Criminalization.
Based on the principle that if we were ALL crooks we could at least be uniform to some degree in the eyes of the law.
Shrewdly our legislators calculated that most people were too lazy to perform a real crime. So new laws were manufactured making it possible for anyone to violate them any time of the day or night, and once we had all broken some kind of law we'd all be in the same big happy club right up there with the President, the most exalted industrialists and the clerical big shots of your favorite religions.
Total Criminalization was the greatest idea of its time and was vastly popular except with those people who didn't want to be crooks or outlaws.
So, of course, they had to be tricked into it...which is one of the reasons why music was eventually made illegal."
It is wonderful that Frank continues to bother evil people from beyond the grave.

I am missing something. I fail to see any problems affecting the rest of the United States when California west of the Sierra Madre range slides into the Pacific Ocean.
I don't have a problem with this. As soon as you stop for fuel or to take a leak, and factor in 15-20 minutes at zero miles per hour, your average speed for the trip goes way down.
I watched the first two movies on Sunday, and then purchased and watched the third movie on Wednesday. I have read the books enough times that I could have slept through any part of it and not known I missed anything!
Why would anyone carry all this stuff around with them in the first place? It might just be me, but isn't this a bit like a little kid dressing up in his spaceman suit before stepping off the front stoop to go play?
The cell phone? Sure, if it's locked. The rest of it? Get a life!
The playing monkeys get killed and eaten by predators, and sometimes fall out of the trees and get hurt. If natural selection is allowed to work it's magic, and not-very-bright children get removed from the gene pool, then learning by playing might work.
Sadly, our children are not usually allowed to get hurt or experience failure.
Some people have way too much money. Why not take the offending curtain down and throw it, plastic rings and all, into your washing machine using the warmwash/cold rinse with some bleach and detergent? WARNING: Do NOT use your dryer to dry the curtain. Just re-hang it in your bathroom!
In the People's Republic of China, the ultimate corporation is the government. When Chinese corporations short the government on taxes and bribes, the charge can be treason, and the punishment a bullet in the base of the skull.
Too bad the United States government sold off the regulation process to the large corporations and "public" utilities. So then, why hasn't Ken Lay been publicly executed in the Astrodome?
When you believe or think something is true, then you stop considering it. There are NO unimpeachable facts. Every person must work from assumptions to get anything done. I believe in gravity.
This so lame. The lawyers are the only class of citizen to benefit from this lawsuit. What's unusual about that? When do people wake up and discover that class-action lawsuits are only a scam perpetrated by lawyers?
My wife and I just received our share of a class-action lawsuit against one of our credit card companies...fifty-eight cents! We weren't even knowing parties to the claim. I wonder how much the law firm that worked on my behalf got? Yeah, right.
I haven't bought a new CD since the Led Zeppelin DVD and CD sets, "How The West Was Won" came out last year. The current entertainment isn't about the music or lyrics anymore...it's all about the video, and that's why it sucks. Music is supposed to happen between your ears, not in front of them!
The chain of ownership begins with the purchase of a legitimate copy. If you are not starting your posession with a legitimate copy, you have NO rights.
This proposal is short, clear, and simple. It is depressing to have to opine that the US legislative bodies are so well-oiled by the RIAA that this will not come to pass in the United States!
This is no Christmas Miracle. Cheap training to obtain easy, high-paying jobs has been a work fantasy forever. It used to be truck driving school. Frank Zappa said, "So I tore the cover off a book of matches..."
Is he still alive? I can't recall even an anthology under his name for quite a while. The last I read about him, he was living in a tent in protest of something or other at a sci-fi convention. I always enjoyed his stories. The question is, fame or money? If his stories get into public domain, there is a better chance people will be enjoying them long after the last physical book gets remaindered into oblivion.
When a person causes other computers to behave in an unauthorised manner, it's hacking! If his teacher had a discussion with the class before using the computers about what behavior is not allowed, then he should be punished. If not, the teacher and the school's IS personnel are to blame.
I haven't seen the black helicopters around here yet, and I refuse to line my baseball cap with aluminum foil to ward off mind-reading machines.
People who believe their E-mail is safe from prying eyes are fools. If your employer has an IS department that's doing it's job, he can see your computer screen and monitor your keystrokes.
Use whatever of Mr. Bill's products work for your particular circumstance. For NOW, that is. In a relatively short while support for ME, 2000, and even XP will disappear. In order to continue using a desktop PC using Windows connected to the Internet you will be expected to subscribe to a mandatory version of some Windows product. Oil up your credit card, and it won't hurt as much!

Now we most definitely are waiting for someone to invent a warp drive. To infinity...and beyond!

There are many local clubs with quality, live regional acts in any music genre you want. We're talking about five to ten dollar covers here.

My original Wolfenstein 3D runs fine on my Athlon 64. I still get shot by Waffen SS guys, but the dogs are always fun to shoot!
Are you still buying CD's? Stop. You don't need to commit acts of priracy to see bands perform live.

I created a six-Gig partion on my second internal hard drive for this problem.

Anything less than 12 ounces is a demitasse serving. One pot equals four of my cups.

The music is selective-audience-formatted crap anyway, so why listen to it at all? Open a book and turn on Public Radio.
