A quick google shows an article from the end of December detailing the plans for dual layer drives that are due to come out soon. And this is why I don't have a DVD burner yet
I don't think anyone here has mentioned it yet, but imagine what this could do for other countries of the world. I can see governments modifying it themselves or doing some other dirty things since the government is what ultimately enforces copyright. How would foreign contributions to an opensource project where copyright does not apply work? Imagine someone from a loosely regulated country contributing code from windows to an open source project? What could be the ramifications of this!?
I mean honestly, can anyone explain why they care? Is it because they are afraid blind people using text to speech are not going to be able to tell the difference? I mean really....
Does anyone know if the same basic principles used in transmission of broadband over powerlines are employed in those LANs you can connect to any power outlet?
With 3D games that are first generation a la Playstation-Saturn-N64, the graphics can be hard to bear sometimes. In these cases I think music can be more lasting. With 2D games, this is not really a problem as all 2D games seemed to have aged fine for me and are easy to look at. Something about blurry textures and low framerates really annoys me.
I do know of the SuperCD addon for the PCE but AFAIK the addon for SNES was only ever reffered to as the "SuperCD", and as it was never actually released I doubt it ever had an "offical" (i.e. marketable) name to speak of.

Actually you are wrong on certain things. The original CD addon for SNES was called the "Super CD." I don't believe any were actually produced either (but don't quote me on that). The PSX designation was given to the original playstation in its developmental stage. PSX originally stood for Play Station Xperimental. The other info you posted is correct though.
Whats a good material to block cellular/gps signals? I think that making cellphone holders that can block the signals would be a great product to sell....
"...DVD has effectivly 'stopped' and will restart the dvd and respond with the next region code and so on untill the the DVD starts working."
Actually this isn't neccessary as all DVD drives are able to read the region code for themselves (how else would a region-coded player know it couldn't play said disc?)
China still has some problems, but it seems they are on the path of improvement. Compare that to the US where I constantly feel we are on a declining path to destruction...
Because of the internet, it is easier to purchase items abroad then ever before. The companies need to learn this. Otherwise, You know what happens when companies "crack down" on legal overseas media products....you download them instead! There, now no one gets money, not billy working at the shipping depot or bobo packaging the dvds at some factory in china, and not the banking firms handling transactions...etc.etc...the point is it should not be legal for companies to do this anyway, it just hurts the economy!
I don't think the government should be regulating this sort of thing. It's not like it will make much of a difference anyway as its ultimately up to the parents. If the kids are going to go around the parents and buy it themselves, there are other ways to play these things anyway. Friends, the internet, etc., it will probably hurt the retail stores and the companies making the games more than helping anyone.
You are thinking of two different things, although I suppose they are similar in many ways. There are "dating sims" and then there are "adult games". The latter is of an entirely pornographic nature and usually the stories of these games is nothing to write home about. OTOH, many so called "dating sims" do feature a good story that can be interesting. And BTW, most of the regular dating sims are for consoles and not for the PC. (In fact, the console manufacturers will still not allow pornographic material to be published)
For dating sims to be popular in North America, they have to be produced from the ground up in English and have competent voice actors. Most dating sims actually have very low production values, which is redeemed by a good story. I imagine translating a game for the western market is actually more expensive then producing it from the ground up. This is the main reasons dating sims are not going to be translated over to the US, however, cultural/linguistic differences in the game itself make it difficult to accurately translate anyway.

they have a sense of humor
Sounds like this guy should play for money
If it's really 300gb and it really is floating around out there, then that is one hell of a demo

There are many casinos where card counting is legal, just go there instead.

More troubling is the walmart censored versions they never tell you about of DVD and Audio CDs that you actually PURCHASE!

Come on now, everyone knows mario is communist

I don't think this will fly very well. I bet you will be able to import PCs with a regular bios from certain regions of the world.
Well word 2000(and up) added some nice Japanese text features. Aside from that I can't really think of anything though
Actually I could see them forcing a name change of "Unix"
You know, I always thought the way to create new, positive meanings for words was not by BANNING THEM!
I was going to say this...then I searched and realized someone said it for me!
