Yeah it's proprietary but it really is the best way to talk to native speakers of whatever language it is you are studying. And if you are a native English speaker there are tons and tons of people who would love to improve their English.
The asian mindset doesn't really understand the open source concept and would prefer reliable software with a strong manufacture behind it.
This statement is just wrong, if anything the "asian" mindset (more specifically, China, and Japan in this case) promote working for the good of the whole over the individual. It would seem that this fits right in line with open source ideals.
Are you learning anything by using Skype? No. Is it advancing research? No.
I use Skype all the time to practice and learn foreign languages, and to collaborate with people located in different regions of the world. I would definately say there are many educational applications for Skype, and banning this software from a network is most probably due to a lack of understanding.
It's had a great run, I enjoy the show, but there is nothing I hate more than shows that are just dragged on for so long, I want the thing to end already!
I think the guy(s) who created this should have one of this things where you can take a picture of yourself sitting in the AOL throne....maybe best to place it near some small town so it can be a real attraction? Anyway, I definately want my picture taken!
Don't forget to mention that the iRiver has more language support than iPod, and also it has video playback with the new firmware...and also! it has *drum roll* (the single most important thing for me) directory browsing!!! Oh and no dirty hacks to download music off the iRiver onto your computer
(Yes I just bought one and like to feel like I made the right choice...although I do like the look of the iPod...they look so sexy...ok that's enough...mst loook away..ahhh!)
Well I think it would be far more likely that every developer is using the same library to operate the wireless network, and this would cause A LOT more problems than with just one game...
I keep hearing about these new technologies with a much larger storage capacity compared to anything we have today. But what I really want to know is how long until any of these products actually become useful to me?
I remember monitoring for netbus attacks with this software called netbuster, and I would e-mail the ISPs that someone was trying to attack my machine from their service and it may or may not be because the users machine is compromised. I would usually get an e-mail saying they informed the user and also thanking me for alerting them, and so maybe this same thing applies here?
I mean it makes more sense to censor violence than to censor sex, right? At least comments that mention this hypocrisy are usually modded up on here... so mod away !;)
I feel like ranting: I hate the stupid fucking console vampire sucking companies that think it benefits them to lock out regions in this day and age. I am locked into the Japanese/Asian territory for my PS2 because there is no way I am modding it or buying another console. There are a few US games that I would want though, but I guess you could say I am "protesting" these pigs by simply not buying (or copying for that matter) these games, which I would otherwise enjoy.
The reason I got a smartphone instead of a PDA is that I carry my phone around everywhere, always. It makes sense to. It doesn't make sense to try and juggle a PDA and a phone and a gameboy and a camera around.
But you're willing to carry around game cartridges?
Woah, hold the phone! You think Mandarin is not spoken so much outside of China? Mandarin is also spoken in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and is increasing in usage, since their return to China (Still mostly Cantonese though), in Hong Kong and Macau. There are many overseas Chinese too who live in chinatowns around the world where Mandarin is used more than the native regional language in many cases. English does have a very high penetration rate though and in that sense, Mandarin doesn't even come close. I do think that the growning prominence of China and its importance in many industries may alter these figures a little (eventually).
Video games would require some kind of player which I guarentee will be obsolete and unavailable in 30 years or so rare it isn't worth buying anyway.
If this is the case, then wouldn't the originial packaging be the most valuable portion of the game, since, by definition, it doesn't require an "obsolete" console. Don't you think we will be able to read the standard optical CD/DVD media of today on future emulation systems anyway?
Does that mean these guys win the contest?
Down with capitalism, infedels!

or is someone just dumb...durrrrrr......
Would Haitian Creole be counted as another "dialect" of French?

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but if you really want a "noisless" computer just buy a laptop.

I really wish I had the patience to finish this game since I've had it since it first came out but its just so...damn...time consuming!
Its definately not as good as the first one, and its really easy, but its still a fun game
Actually, I would like to learn more about cars, you wouldn't happen to know any good books or websites for basic maintenance stuff etc. would you?

for them to release a DVD/CD Mp3 player!

Hell thats nothing. Just look at what the Germans have been up to
Or it could be more like Windows 98 SE
