Slashdot and its community have been an inspiration to me for a long time. Thank you for all you've done and for giving us voice through all these years.
Best of luck wherever you may land,

I stream it on the 360 and I've gotten HD.
The OP is right in that the selection is skimpy, but I'm on the $9 a month plan so I'm not complaining. I don't have cable or anything so I usually just throw a random movie on that I've never seen.
I hope that they start porting more and more movies over. I rarely even use the dvd option of netflix.
I remember reading an article on here talking about a theory in which a particle from the future could come back and shut things down.
I guess they could use that theory for any kind of downtime though.

Not at all. If they come out with a 360 version, I will definitely be buying. PC though, as long as there's DRM, no way.
Normally, it's an amazing job. I work on several fighter plane programs so I get to see and be part of some awesome technology. It's just dealing with IT that sucks.
This app started in PHP before I was here. When I came in, I rewrote it in PHP to make it more efficient and strip out some of the fat. There were emails with IT on it and they didn't seem to care. It wasn't until the app got popular and used that it became an issue.
My management did their best to fight it, but IT has a strong pull here I guess.
With all the restrictions on tools and languages, it seems like our IT holds us back more often than pushing us forward.
I recently built an application for my group that started off in PHP/MySQL. The customers were using it and loving it, but IT said they're not interested in supporting PHP and we weren't allowed to stand up a server. After months of talk with them and compromising, it was rewritten into JSP/Oracle. Then they said we're not allowed to do that either, so we agreed on C#.net/MS SQL. I rewrote it to that and after a month, they again came back and said no way. Getting ever more frustrated (I now had the same program in several languages), I ended up in C# Desktop Application instead of web/MySQL. They've been complaining again, but we have more leverage there in that my entire group was stood up to build desktop apps. I'll probably have to switch it to Oracle, but that shouldn't be a big hit.
We wasted lots of time and money rewriting what was already done all because of politics. I always thought IT was meant to *support* rather than hinder.
While I definitely do miss the speed of 3G, all the other features of the iPhone made it worth it. I came from the Cingular 8525 and while it was an ok phone, all the apps on there seemed like they were made for a computer. Tiny buttons, slow response times and nothing worked well together.
The thing I like about the iPhone is while it does have a lot of apps, all of them were made for a phone. MMS is stupid not having, but I knew that when I purchased it. Hopefully it's just a firmware update.
Overall, it's a pretty good phone and I dont regret buying it.
How is this insightful? The user is completely, flat out wrong.
The only thing my 8525 doesn't do that your iPhone does is give me an 8 gig hard drive. I have a fully functional browser, mail, calendar, music and video. I also have 3G and a user serviceable battery. I can also send MMS messages. I can sync all this up with my computer. I can use a stylus. I can develop apps for my phone.
Where am I being blown out of the water? Mine was even cheaper.
Right, but the difference here is that the RIAA isn't up against joe schmoe mom and pop lawyer. They're up against computer nerds that know what they're talking about.
Has he enforced his copyright before? I'm doubting it. Don't people have to show proof that they've done their best making sure noone violates their copyright in order to be able to keep it?
My biggest issue with these new firefox releases is that they're straying away from what I loved so much about the browser, which is how barebones it was. When I downloaded it, I got a standard browser with nothing fancy built in. Do I want a theme? Download and install. Do I want special functionality? Download and install. Now the new one is packaged with features that imo, should be left up to plugins.
They could just offer 2 builds for download. One for Mom and Dad that had the most popular plugins and a theme pre-installed, and one for the techie people that want a barebones efficient browser.
At this rate, Firefox is just turning into a non-popular IE.
Right, I was just wondering the same thing. Even if they have access roles in place, are these roles secure enough to make sure that someone that doesn't need to see the top speed of Fighter X can't?
1. Make huge mistakes that destroy the reputation of a country.
2. Make idiot comments and do clumsy things so people focus on those and call you a dummy all the while forgetting all the other stuff.
3. Profit.
I'll agree with this. I've busted my butt for the last year and half at my company (We are a huge company and you have definitely seen many, many of our products, especially if you're in the military). At the end of the day, what did I get? A generic 5% raise ontop of my already industry low salary. What'd my manager get? A nice big promotion in both position and salary. What did the company get out of this? I no longer put out innovative ideas and I'm one foot out the door.
I still do my job as per my requirements, but I'm no longer going past my job requirement.

Someone probably owns a patent for it and they dont want to pay.

The game responsible for my career.

What I meant is a 'proprietary drivers issue'. Missed that in the preview, sorry.
I think it's more of a proprietary issue, but for those that have switched to 4.x, does kdm still freeze when you shut down X?
Why is that bad? It's a win-win for both sides.
Technically, they never showed her dead body or her funeral like they did for Two-Face. Just sayin..
*For a nominal fee.
I'd rather stop spending billions of dollars on a war that has no end in sight.

I know of a 'movie' that started like that.

I fail to see your logic.

Species go extinct all the time. It's sad, but we can't expect to preserve every single species there is out there.
