Not done it yet, but I plan on moving my service from Sprint to Xingular since Sprint has no GSM support and Nokia gave me this very nice GSM phone at the last dev con I went to. Would be a shame to waste the phone for just dev work so I figure I'll hook myself up.
Its also very nice to write software for. Soon as I get a free moment I'll break the seal on the dev kit Nokia/Borland gave me, but from what I've read and seen it has a very good system model that makes it VERY hard to have an app crash the OS. In addition the System 60 phones have a screen that is higher res then the defalt Palm screen of 160x160, granted it is smaller. So there is little to stop you from porting or creating "real" applications for the platform.
Not so, or at least not allways. You cannot refuse to do buisness with people based on some criteria such as race etc. However I don't see any problem with what Google is doing.
Any group is able to buy a license and make a US legal Linux DVD player and sell it for a small fee. Of course it wont be GPLd so it will be shuned by closed minded Linux zellots who then will go back to bitching about the lack of a DVD player.
And this is of course the main problem with the Open Source movment IMHO. People dont set "the software works" as the number one priority. Its "The software is Open" first with working being down around "has a cool splash screen" and "has a name starting in K or G".
So by "truly dedicated" you must mean unscrupulous little weasels who want to access others work without contributing anything of their own or reimbursing others for their time?
It all ways amazes me that people claiming to be "true fans" do whatever they can to ensure that there wont be any thing for them to pirate in the future.
I'm starting to think that the RIAA may have a point, that's a disturbing thought. Must get drunk now.
"I mean I might try a game for 5 bucks but 50? No way. The game compaines need to reduce the price to what the market will pay or pay the price"
You know I'm not going to pay 1,000,000+ for a house. So I'll just find one I like and kill the people in it so that I can live there. The home owners need to reduce the price to what the market will pay or pay the price.
Indeed, I have a hand held testing unit that does just that. I use it for diagnostics on my home fiber optic network (love those failed dot com hardware sell offs).
I guess I just dont think its Microsofts job to educate all these third rate admins. Do you realy think that the monkies setting these things up would fair any better using Linux, Solaris or BSD?
RPC should be open and enabled in the same way that SSH and NFS should be on a Linux install. If the systems admin setting up the device is clueless the install will have problems. Period.
If only there was a way for people to distrubte de-DRMed AAC files. Ah well, its a pipe dream, that would take some sort of global information network to work.
No, but I'll check the sex shop next time I'm in the area, they sound fun.

No I think the people who own the credit cards you used to commit fraud will call the secret service on you.
What a GREAT idea. Fight Spam by committing a federal offence. You can laugh at the foolish spammers from prison.

Then the arms race starts.

All the REAL paranoids know that only an ALUMINIUM foil beenie will work.

Do the laws aply to people who pirate music off the internet? The general consensus here seems to be that it shouldn't.
Will there be people involved at any point? If so then its not secure, however it may be verifiable.
I named my shotgun God. Saves time all around.
Just because we?re all lying unscrupulous weasels doesn?t mean you shouldn?t trust us.

I can stop the RPC service with a 50$ firewall from CompUSA.

Fear the Ultra5/10. IDE is EVIL on a Sparc system.
So when I picked up a dual CPU Sun Ultra 60 last year for 50$ that wasn't affordable? How about the 25$ SGI Indy I got three years ago?
I for one welcome the all your bases jokes.

You have to understand, with some peoples looks, the only thing that can make themintersing to plug into is a large pod.
They'll just send an email saying stop, or I'll say stop again.
