I'm sorry, but I am not going to waste my resources storing every email every one of my customers has received from now until kingdom come. Unlike Google, I don't have the spare cash sitting around for that kind of storage space. Make it a law and I bet you see a surge of ISPs basing their servers offshore to protect their investment (customer privacy mainly).
Or you'll see all the "little guys" of the US ISP world going out of business, and the "big guys" prospering as everyone comes to them for access.
Hmmmm... I wonder who donates the most money to the current political parties?
I finally submit a story that gets accepted, and I forgot to log in when I did it. OTOH, "Trys" was my stupid tyop in the original headline, so maybe I shouldn't have posted this at all.
"This technology must not be deployed until it is proven effective -- and we are a long way away from that point, according to scientists in the field,"
I imagine anyone likely to find themselves in this thing's "field" would agree.
Since Apple does not license its antipiracy software, other online retailers can't sell music or video that works on an iPod, and other manufacturers can't make players that work with iTunes content.
Gee, every music track I've ever bought from eMusic works just fine on an iPod.
We need a snopes entry to send to idiots like the one that wrote this story, pointing out that the "Nobody can sell music that plays on an iPod except Apple!!!111" line is just another urban myth.
4. They purposefully grabbed more than they were entitled to, hoping that the inevitable backlash would result in the person at the top who ordered the whole stupid operation would get shit-canned.
I think is is a perfect solution, because as we all know, nobody outside the US could possibly be advanced enough to manufacture an implantable RFID chip!
I don't think they were talking about you. I think they are talking about the kind of immigrants that sneak across the border at night and pick our tomatoes by day. You know, the "bad kind" of immigrant.
So c'mon, guys! If we're gonna get this job done quickly, we're gonna need your help! Everybody chip in, and we'll have 'em out of business in no time!
The summary takes the quote "for me [it] was one of the worst operating system experiences that I've ever encountered." directly from the article, making it sound like the author was describing the entire Vista Beta experience.
He wasn't.
The FULL sentence from whence this quote was lifted reads (with my added emphasis):
"Installing Vista Beta 2, for me was one of the worst operating system experiences that I've ever encountered."
Awkward grammar aside, the author is talking about the installation and configuration experience, NOT Windows Vista as an overall OS experience.
I like to bash M$ as much as the next guy, have a mixed network of Windows and non-Windows systems at home, yadda yadda yadda,.. but come on! Save the bias for vacuum tubes.
Not to be a CDBaby fanboy (okay, EXACTLY to be a CDBaby fanboy) but if you're an artist that has listed your CD via CDBaby's digital distribution service, you are listed at eMusic:-)
And now the shameless plug... I know this because my band Goodwin is also at eMusic, and according to our accounting reports we're getting some sales.
Until the point that we have true AI, that is. ( And it will
still be true, but handled by the AI. )
Then we'll just be outsourcing all our work to that bitch Wintermute up in Straylight.
This is pretty much all that needs to be said about what truly motivates the US voting public.
Or you'll see all the "little guys" of the US ISP world going out of business, and the "big guys" prospering as everyone comes to them for access.
Hmmmm
They should name it "Lorax".
If I could, I'd mod you up to a million. I'm cryin' over here.

That's the trouble with women, the faster you know they are, the harder it is to know where to find 'em.
:-)
Wrong physicist
Yes, totally offtopic, perhaps even trollish, feel free to mod as such. Still pisses me off though.
Eh, if you don't feed them they'll just regenerate anyway.

Bring on Bass Hero.
Bass Hero is coming out next week, but nobody will notice unless it comes in late.
Why do we have to start with humans in space, isn't it a much better idea to start making colonies with animals? ... maybe ...
Like
pigs?

Are you imagining a Beowulf cluster of those?
The Russian spammer said it himself - they never brought down our servers, they only served as "a daily nuisance".
And we know this is true because Russian spammers are known throughout the world for their unassailable truthiness.
Have you ever seen a PERFECTLY spheroidal meatball?
I didn't think so.

Well, it kind of is...
