  1. Re:I Think They Jumped the Gun on GameCube Dropped To $99 At Online Retailer · · Score: 1

Agreed. I've been doing the Nintendo/Sony dual system thing since the PSX and N64. Sony for RPGs and square-soft fanboyage and Nintendo for some solid good ol fun. And with the Nintendo planning on rolling out the network adapter for Mario Kart Double Dash, hopefully they'll be able to compete on equal grounds with the Xbox (provided the peripheral makes it here)

  2. Re:Look at it this way on GameCube Dropped To $99 At Online Retailer · · Score: 1

    Well thats in japan...

In America and I think Europe (which AFAIK Nintendo has been giving the proverbial shaft for a while (they just got Animal Crossing recently I believe)), Xbox is trouncing on the 'cube by a good amount.

  3. Look at it this way on GameCube Dropped To $99 At Online Retailer · · Score: 3, Interesting

Let's look at it this way

    1) M$ just got done in an interview proclaiming that Nintendo wasn't an issue anymore. If Nintendo wants to beat out the Xbox they're going to have to do it by pushing more boxes out than XBox. This will guve them what... a $100 advantage to the XB, which M$ probably can't afford to drop any lower since they're already losing money on each console manufactured

    2) Nintendo has already cut production of new units and are trying to clear out the warehouses. Simple supply and demand here.

    3) Nintendo has a lot of hot stuff coming in November. A lot of people aren't really in the know but this is probably a pre-emptive shot in the upcoming Xmas console battle.

    4) This also puts the GC on the same value as the GBA, which should prevent Nintendo from "shooting themselves in the foot" (not really happening though) with the price difference between GC and GBA SP. (My next guess is a buy one get one half off deal if this doesn't work.)

    5) If Nintendo is still doing the free game with purchase deal then microsoft is seriously going to be in a lot of hot water. You're talking a $150 difference in the setup fee for a GC vs. Xbox.

Yep. My sentiments exactly. Man were those the days.... FF2, Zelda, FF3, EB, CT, Mario RPG, Harvest Moon. Mmmmm... I'm fairly sure the remake will hit here. Nintendo would be foolish not to right now, given the appeal of RPGs and the only Nintendo RPG goin right now is Pokemon (and that is dying too)... That doesn't count Square Enix's RPGs, i'm talking 1st party developed.

  8. Re:Orignal Mother or Earthbound.. on Earthbound Petition Making A Difference? · · Score: 1

Ummm... No. The game was originally translated by NINTENDO in the late 80's but wasn't released with the SNES that close to hitting the states... What's been floating around the 'net is a copy of the cart that NOA would've probably used as a master but someone won it at an auction or something and Neo Demiforce reimbursed them for it, and also paid them money since the owner didn't want to have it dumped in order to keep the price up on it. Of course Neo Demi. had to do a little bit of hacking (just the title screen and dummy some hardware verifications to make sure the system is legit). And for what it's worth. I still have EB, the player's guide, the cards (although they don't smell anymore), and I've been reading SM.net before the very 1st petition and when they were earthbound.net (at least 5 years ago!)

  12. My idea on Are Game Guides Dying? · · Score: 1

Since I don't have a dedicated line nor is the computer necessarily located near the console... I prefer to have a book to thumb through while playing, especially if its a pc game so i don't have to quit or alt-tab to a browser. Also, in playing Legend of Mana I found the Brady book helpful just for the maps and not the game walkthrough. FAQs are nice cause you get more insight into the non-linear aspects of the game. Ie. in Legend of Mana the guide barely touches on the forging, gardening, pets and golem systems in it. In that sense FAQs were much more helpful and informative. I will usually buy the guide for a console game, but typically for pc games like RTS and FPS games i don't usually buy them. Yes FAQs have taken some of the steam, but i think they will equal out in the long run.

I wouldn't say its anti-technology. I think it's more about technology gone bad. Not anti-technology in general.

All forms of technology have good/bad sides. A subtle example is the old bow + arrow. Somewhat Good: Kill animals easier for survival and food. Bad: Kill our fellow man easier as well.

How about something more drastic: Atomic fusion. Good: Very powerful energy source. Bad: Very powerful bombs.

I think really one of the points is to make sure we guide the technology, not follow it.
