I was watching the news, and there are folks in Baton Rouge looking for family members. How come the gov hasnt set up a database driven site to enter names of those rescued, nationally available, so that folks can find each other? In an information driven age, this is a practical way of helpinf families hook back up. The Red cross is trying, but this will stretch their resources.

I disagree entirely. They dont reach into my wallet and take my money. It is offered up freely by the consumer in exchange for a product or service. I was an avid Q1 and Q2 player. I did NOT buy Q3.

I am an avid BF1 and BFV player. But I'm not buying a new video card just to play bf2. Sure, someone thought it was good for EA to get in bed so deeply with nVidia that a 5000 gen card or higher is required. So, I'm not interested in buying BF2.

Yes, we consumers CAN "fire" the game companies. The problem is, however, that gamers are like lemmings. They often all jump off the WoW, BF2, GTA cliffs together regardless of a publishers past attitude toward gamers. Boycotts only work if everyone does it. As for me, I'm not interested in upgrading my vid card for one game. If another game comes out that requires it, maybe, but the economics dont make sense right now.

Sure I could update to the 3.5x to solve this problem, but Snapstream removed divx support internally in that and all versions to date. That leaves users to throw a bunch of batch files together, hunt down 3rd party apps to do a function that was IN the software when it was sold.

Sure MPEG 2 is nice, but not all of us write to DVDs. And the alternative, WMV, truly bites.

Might I suggest you "look" some more then.

    Voting "Rights":
    * Only two New England states--Maine and Vermont--allow all felons to vote.
    * Twenty-eight states prohibit felons who are on probation from voting.
    * Thirty-two states prohibit felons who are on parole from voting.
    * The states that prohibit felons who have served their complete sentences from voting are hardly the old Confederacy: Only five of the thirteen states fall in that category.
    * Conversely, of the old Confederacy, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia all allow some felons to vote.

    Gun "Rights":
    * Under federal law, those convicted of a felony are forbidden from purchasing or possessing firearms and explosives
(exceptions: 1965 amendment to Federal Firarms Act of 1938 allowing felons to request "relief"

Seems that despite "serving your time" you are still not granted the same "rights" as other citizens. Why is that? A persons's "rights" ar eno longer valid when their "rights" trample the rights of another. The state has determined, that should you violate the rights of another, to the point of a felony convition, your then lose the right to participate in the democratic process (Amendment 15, 18, 24, 26)(And we wont go into the one person one vote garbage which is NOT in the constitution) and that you cannot enforce your desire to reobtain your rights to such through your "right" to firearm possession and ownership ( Amendment 2).

When I asked the owner why he thought business hadnt worked out, his answer was:

"I wasnt sure why until this week. A lady and her son came in. The boy saw a game, and excitedly asked, 'mom, what about this one?' To which the mother replied, 'will I have to play it with you?' At that moment I knew that it wasn't that kids didn't want to play new games, but that parents didn't want to play with the kids"

I'm going to miss that store. We have an entire closet here at the house full of games. About half of them are the basic games one can find at Toys'r'Us and walmart. The rest are the "what kind of game is that???" stuff that really challange the mind. I love it when my kids bring an "off the wall game" and want to learn how to play it. Cooties are still fun for a 5 year old, but when he drags out Zertz, Apples to Apples, or Blink I know that he is going to grow up with an edge over the nintendo playing couch potatoes. It may not be a financial advantage, but at least he will enjoy the stimulation that comes from trying new things, learning new things.
