    The difference is, they EXPECT a bike to hand them their ass. But don't forget either that as soon as you get on a twisty road a porsche will blow the bike away. I have a 10-minute vid of two M5s (not Porsches I know) on the Nurnburgring racing against bikes. In all the turns the bikes are leaned over so far that knees are dragging on the ground and the M5s are PASSING THEM ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TURNS!

    Not to mention that the system often failed while in the "4" mode, rarely in the "6" mode and never in the "8" mode. The car would be stuck running on 4 cylinders.

    Those little USB pendrives are USB mass storage Unfortunately, those little pen drives are NOT standard USB mass storage. I have one. I comes with a floppy disk, because if you just plug it in even Windows XP doesn't know what to do with it, let alone NT/9x. Each company has their own drivers. My friend has one too, from a different company than me. You have to install drivers for both if you want to use both.

    I never said it didnt suck. The parent said it ISN'T USED, which is DEAD WRONG. Many networks partially use VoIP and obviously Telus and Sprint are moving to full VoIP. IT isnt used? Do you even read the threads?

    You don't use IP to carry telephone calls on a phone network. Ever. YOU don't but Telus and Sprint do. Where have you been for the last few years? VoIP.

    One definition of irony is "something which is not what it seems" or "the opposite of what would be expected". You expect to phone Apple and you get an organization owned by a direct competitor. Not ironic? According to english class in high school it sure is.

    The coincidence is that the phone numbers both refer to businesses related in some way. The irony is that the phone numbers lead to competitors (in a sense).

    It's not so much the 'air-traffic-problem', more the increased likelyhood of an aircraft actually striking a tether with all the associated unpleasant consequences.

    Instead of drinking something hot and adding to the problem, eat tons and tons of salsa, garlic, and horseradish. You will sweat buckets, breathe easier, and cool down without adding heat. You will also feel an urge to drink lots and lots of water, which is a good thing. But don't drink COLD water, drink lukewarm water (if you can stand it). Lukewarm water is best for temperature regulation.

    You do realize that American 4-door sedans are officially Hondas and Toyotas...made in North America and top sellers in North America. An interesting fact: while the Accord and Camry have been the top-selling family sedan in the US for several years, only this year did the Accord beat out the Grand Am in Canada. Seems we are better at being Americans than our big brother :)

    Um, no...we would only refer to RAM as something else if the majority of people called it something else, not because something else is called a ram too. Bad analogy.

    Likewise, you seem to be saying that everyone's use of the word "ass" is completely wrong and unacceptable because several hundred years ago some "authority" decided it was a good word for a donkey.

    Should we call 3.5" diskettes "hard disks" ... simply because that's what the unwashed masses refer to them as?

    The unwashed masses do not call 3.5" diskettes "hard disks". They call them "floppies". Very rarely does one hear the words "hard disk". "Hard drive" yes, but more often those are called "C drive" by newbies around where I live.

    Should we start referring to the ... monitor as the "computer"?

    In an iMac and eMac, the monitor is the computer.

    I'll make a bet that using current software 64 bit wouldn't be much faster than 32 bit, even for 64bit calculations; the software isn't optimized for 64bit therefore it would do the operations as if it were a 32bit CPU. Although in the Apple article it says the that PPC architecture can do two 32bit operations in the same register. If the OS is smart enough, perhaps it would be effective.

    Ditto...64 bit means it can address 2^32 times the memory as currently and/or do 64-bit numerical functions in one operation.

    I don't entirely disagree with your comments, but I seriously doubt that the Police that you were tempted to defend against threatened you with a gun, or even went to pull it out, just because you had long hair. Harassment, yes it happens all the time, and I bet you felt like defending yourself because of harassment, not being threatened with a weapon. A bobby with a nightstick can harass and threaten you just as much as a cop with a gun in his or her holster. On the other hand, yes, bobbies don't get shot much, but when there is an armed and dangerous criminal around they send in the ARMY, who are very well armed and trained to kill. At least in the States they don't (always) have to send in the army over armed bandits.

    Has it ever occured to anyone that water can be condensed? Of course that would mean our roads would either be covered with water or there would be designated drain areas, but one can avoid pumping water vapour into the air by cooling it. The air rushing by a car could easily be tapped by an intercooler to cool the vapour enough to make water. If we used storage tanks in the cars for the water, the water could be recycled or dumped into fresh water drainage systems.

    Police are not the law either. They enforce the law. We as voting citizens have no moral authority? What's the point in democracy then? Furthermore, there is such thing as citizen's arrest. Even though there is citizen's arrest, you still say we can't even REPORT behaviour to those who have authority?
