Another awards show. I guess we can look forward to posts about how LOTR did at the Golden Globes, Academy Awards, Peoples Choice, MTV Movies, Blockbuster Movie Awards, etc. etc.
You would think all of these people in the entertainment industry would have broken arms from patting themselves on the back so much.
Wow, I had no idea that eye sight loss in tadpoles had gotten so bad that Sceintists in Japan dedicated time to finding a solution. Although the three blind mice have already filed a discrimination lawsuit seeking matching funds.
My company does this every year. And of course it's supposed to be a few of our employees overseeing the High School students while they build the robot. What actually happens is the Engineers from my company argue over the design and concept until the last minute. Then they work long hours near the end of the deadline to finish it. The kids get bored, the Non-Engineers from my company to most the work and we get our butts whipped at the competition. Although they may not learn much about robotics, they are getting a first rate education in office politics, theory over implementation and other great office battles not taught in any college. Of course they do get a free trip to Disney World.
Texas has passed a law to make it illegal for telemarketers to call people on a special do not call list. If the telemarketer violates this law they will be charged $1000 for each offense
There have been many stories about computer animation switching to Linux boxes because of cost savings and availability. I wonder if the adoption of Linux is helping the industry and in turn will this growth help Linux. Either way here are some Computer Animation\Linux articles to read:
Now just send the text output to your printer, staple the pages together and make a nice animated quake flip book. If you flip the pages fast enough you should get a faster frame rate than most high end video cards.
I believe a big winner should be digital media manufatures. I have spent more money storing MP3's than on playing them. I bought a bigger hard drive to store all the MP3's I ripped from my CD collection. I upgraded the flash memory card on my MP3 player, not to mention the huge stacks of blank CDR discs for making CD's from downloaded MP3's and to play in my Aiwa MP3 car stereo.
I am actually going through a similar experience. I am younger by far than most of the people I work with and to make matters worse I have long hair (many old folks don't like that). But they can not argue with the job I do. And even in this economy, good tech people are hard to come by. If they wanted you gone, by now you probably would be. Continue to make yourself valuable at work and they will gain respect for you. Take on high profile and important tasks. While you are young you will need to work a little harder to earn respect. Also many companies don't care about you until someone else does, so send out some resumes and if a job comes along with a higher salary your work may see the light and match that salary to keep you there.
Does anyone remember the days when they cooled the rooms the computers were in? I remember going into my college computer lab and the AC was set to 50 degrees, just to cool the CAD computers. The moral of this comment is...Just buy a commercial grade Air Conditioner for your house, set it to "Artic" and all your PC's can be overclocked to 10ghz
This article at cnn http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/fun.games/12/27/video.games.sales.reut/index.html states "Games for the Sony PlayStation 2 platform held eight of the top-20 sales spots and represented five of the 10 best-selling titles over that period, according to market research firm, The NPD group." A game will still suck even on a 10ghz processor
Now if they can just make a screen that's not as reflecitve as the GBA screen so I can see what I am playing.
