isn't this what casteneda presented in the intro to his 2nd in the don juan series? ...from the day a child is born, one (of many possible) description is presented to him until he shares it...or some such...made a definite impression on a young breeder with 2 to socialize;-)

of course this overlaps religion: propagating a shared pov/weltanschauung/whatever obviously has survival value, like the biblical advice to get drinking water _downstream_ from the latrines, don't eat pork, why we invented monogamy, spicy foods, the caste system...

in a pre-literate, pre-sanitary world, the only way to promulgate useful knowledge is to codify it into mnemonic narratives, enforced by the cloak of the supernatural...ie: why religion was invented ;-)

mammalian light-sensing cells of the retina are _under_ the blood vessels, whereas the squid eye (or was it octopus...sci.am covered this decades ago) has the sensors on top, demonstrating at least 2 evolutionary paths.

but trying 2 reason with a creationist is useless: they are not rational (reason-based) because the target audience of any religion is the pre-rational mind, ie: children, because each generation of barbarians has 2 b socialized early...which is why we invented religion in the 1st place;-)
