There's all kinds of new spyware and adware coming out for Windows all the time! Ok well maybe it's not inspired but it sure is innovative! I regularly have to clean people's systems and it drives me nuts because of all the innovative ways it installs itself and buries itself and really fucks up their systems. You don't see that on the mac!
Soon through the miracle of new Bittorrent technology we'll be able to have a group conscious; a hive mind! Sign up to become a borg now! Who wants to start the "seeding" process?
well at least in Ontario, we're slowly being offered the choice of 'naked' DSL.
Bell Canada, one of the biggest DSL providers under their Sympatico brand (and also the largest local phone service) is slowly making the naked DSL service an option. It's just become available since March 31 2005 and apparently they are doing a "quiet launch" (i.e. only removing local phone service if the customer requests it.) Of course they aren't advertising it because they probably don't want many of their DSL subscribers to drop their local phone service en mass.
As a consumer I'm glad to see this happen as I'm sick of paying an extra $30 a month for a local telephone line that I barely use just so that I can get DSL service (I mostly use my cell phone).
If you make passwords too complex or hard to remember then people forget them all the time or do things that make negate the security aspects of passwords completely such as writing them down saving them inside an application or making them incredibly easy to guess so that they can remember them. However is replacing them with sentences or phases really a better idea? While they are likely more difficult to crack who wants to type in a sentence every time they want to login? As an alternative biometric options are finally starting to become more affordable. There are relatively inexpensive biometric mice now that will read a finger print. Perhaps these could be used as a password substitute.
While the first two seasons were a little lackluster at best the third season and now the forth season are quite good. They're finally starting to really get into the reasons why I wanted to watch this show in the first place: less of the temporal cold war crap and more of the war with the Romulans and the foundation of the Federation stuff. This has made the forth season of the show much more interesting and enjoyable than previous seasons. I can still understand why they are cancelling the series (due to low ratings). But it's a shame that we can so much reality show crap on TV now and so few decent story driven series. At least Enterprise will go out on a high note but I wish they'd given it more of a chance.
I have a 21" Trinitron CRT and a 19" BenQ FP937s LCD (with a DVI connection) and between them I notice that:
The LCD seems much brighter and with a 12 ms access times it is rapidly approaching that of a CRT. Heck I can even play fast action games on it.
LCD's really don't reproduce dark/black shades very well and I believe that this probably what is holding them back the most.
Although the viewing angle on most LCDs is vastly improved over the years it still does have a noticable falloff in brightness even with LCDs with the best contrast ratios.
I notice a bit of flicker and or jitter with my CRT even on higher refresh rates and this doesn't seem to be present at all on the LCD.
runs. Then the fans spin up and it sounds like an aircraft on take off! For some reason booting OSX off a CD sometimes causes this. It's a bit surprising to here a mac that is virtually silent one minute roaring with the noise of the fans the next. Thankfully this doesn't happen often at all and 99 percent of the time the fans are so quiet that they are practically inaudible. I work as a mac and PC tech and I really admire the slick cooling system that Apple's designed for the G5. The G4 systems are much noiser and seem to run much hotter.

Now Darth Vader can really reach out and strangle someone! Now with new critic-proof technology that lets Lucas do it to catcalling audience memebers!
I would think that comments to a news editiorial would do pretty much the same thing. What's the benefit of being able to edit someone else's opinion?
Han shoots YOU first
I was expecting an "in Soviet Russia" in there somewhere..
Where was Da Vinci when they really needed him?!
Impressive!

I was damned by [GNU Project founder] Richard Stallman in egregiously profane language for working on it.
Why do I not find this hard to believe...
Finally a system that can run Longhorn!
Do not eat artifical reality helmet

With all of the vulnerabilities and exploits in Windows who needs a password anyways? ;-)

Let us never discuss Cobol again!
how many fps that puppy gets now?

I say we give him a taste of his own medicine and sue him for slander.
Maybe they should start extorting...err charging them $699 for a "license".
