Well, I personally hate when people pronounce "GUI" as "gooey", but it seems like everybody pronounces it that way. Maybe I am just an idiot, but I think "gee-you-eye" sounds much better than "gooey". I mean, isn't the whole point of an acronym to abbreviate a series of words? FBI, CIA, TNT, UML, AOL, NRA, etc. I can not think of ANY acronym other than GUI or FIFO that is pronounced as if it were a word.

Microsoft is completely incompetent, but OSS/FS is only human. You know, I would expect better from a community that prides itself on its intelligence. However, these recent discussions show that they are no more intelligent than the people who think all Muslims are terrorists.

Oh wait, all Muslims ARE terrorists. Nevermind. Since we are over there we might as well kill all the sand niggers. It will save us trouble down the road. And a late Happy 9/11 to you all. Never forget our glorious liberation from those twin towers of doom!

It is so true. There are a lot of more conservative viewers out there, but they are so intimidated by the rampant liberal agenda here that they are afraid to post anything. A well thought out and well written pro-Bush comment will very rarely get modded up. However, even the most obvious and poorly done anti-Bush flame will get modded up more often than not. It's a real shame that we don't get opinions from both sides more often.

  7. Who cares? on They Killed Ken! · · Score: -1

Sure, a dynasty is fun for a while, but sooner or later it gets old. It is just not fun to watch Jeopardy when Ken has $43,000 and the next closest opponent is at $2,000. I admit that I have been watching this season of Jeopardy to see how far Ken will go, but I usually stop watching after the first round because he's so far ahead that he can't possibly lose. There just isn't any excitement or entertainment at all by the end of the first round.

I don't buy this "story". To me, it almost seems like a publicity stunt to get people to watch Jeopardy more. Hell, people said the guy doing the Caller ID spoofing project getting death threats was a publicity stunt, but nobody has called this "story" one except me. Personally, I hope he loses bad. The only thing better than a champion winning is a champion losing, and hard.

I am somewhat skeptical that he is doing this whole thing on his own, though. The show covers a VAST amount of knowledge (or rather trivia) over a VAST amount of time and number of subjects. He rings in for almost every question and almost never misses or stutters. EVERY time Ken pushes his button the answer is on the tip of his tounge, while his opponents occasionally stutter a little to get the answer out. I will admit it is quite possible that he is doing it all on his own if you will admit that it is also quite possible he has help.

Was there a specific point in time when politicians stopped serving for the good of the people and started serving for the good of their own pockets? I mean, is there a single senator/representative that doesn't take money from some lobbying organization? It shouldn't be about the money; it should be about doing the right thing. I think Ralph Nader would do the right thing, even if many people didn't approve of him touching some kid's junk for free.

Anyway, Skull and Bones has always interested me. From what I gather, it is a secret society where well-to-do kids with wealthy/powerful families get together and get drunk. I personally don't think it's any more sinister than your ordinary fraternity. The only difference is that in Skull and Bones the members are obliged to scratch each other's backs in business, financial, or political dealings that affect many ordinary people.
