Fortunately for them, they lend wide-screen TV's to guys like the Prime Minister and Senator Luddite so I doubt they'll cop anything more than a slap on the wrist, as per bloody usual.
Sounds good. But what really appeals to me is being able to send the car down to the bottle shop to grab a slab, and while it's in town grab some junk food as well.
Name the ONE APPLICATION in Linux that is 100% industry accepted, similar to how Internet Explorer is accepted. Don't name 10 variations of the same application that lots of people use... name ONE that EVERYBODY uses.
Apache
BIND
Tomcat
JBoss
If you don't want choice, stick with MS. Applications should not be standards, they should implement standards.
This AC is commenting on the moderation system. Definite no-no.
I mean really, +1 for posting such a blatant offtopic? Could the mods please stop being so lazy with their points, some of us want to read and interesting discussion at -1, not pages of mind-numbing meta-discussion.
When we moved into our last place (3 years ago) it took them 4 months to provide me a land-line.
then some telstra employee had the balls to ring me with a $125 "Customer Satisfaction Guarantee"
I said thanks, but no thanks, I'd like to escalate this and made a complaint. They then charged me $50 for a disconnection & reconnection in the same day, which was not authorised. So I rang them and went to town. I ended up getting a ~$1800 credit ($50 for the reconnection, the rest for the CSG). They've had the last laugh though. I seriously think I'm on a blacklist, because people who live near me can get ADSL, but I can't.
"First Post" comments are one of those odd little memetic hiccups that come out of nowhere and run amok. Basically, people with altogether far too much spare time sit and reload Slashdot, hoping that they will get the "First Post" in a discussion. This is one of those things that the moderation system was designed to clean up, and for the most part, it works. "First Post" comments usually get moderated down as off-topic almost instantly.

I'm on dialup, so while I was updating my FreeBSD ports so I could install the latest dickware product from the ximian monkeys I noticed there were no comments. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the "Slashduck" system doesn't work! Luckily, my FreeBSD router decided that my HTTP packets were more important than the silly cvsup packets, and that is how you get FP dudes. INSTALL A REAL OS THAT DOESN'T USE SCO CODE! That is all, thank you.
Yeah, okay, they are associated with existing projects. But the site makes it sound like they are running a business, but they as yet have no proven business *product* unique to themselves.
I'd say attending training delivered from the core developers is not something that is offered very often.

and then google will have a go. coming soon, multmedia.google.com
seriously, /. karma has as much worth as a Pu. Similar, apart from the fact that it's much easier to obtain.
Happy birthday to the very first DNS-Nuke program, in about 5 minutes!

Welcome to the marketing revolution. A 6-page ad, made mostly of smaller ads. Why do I suddenly have the urge to purchase Longhorn & more memory?
I bet MIT get 100,000 square kilometre's worth then

Hate hate hate.
rather clever of the government to sell shares in something we already owned.
Telstra should never have been allowed into the retail market.

FP biatch, eat it and mod accordingly.
In the box with "related links", I see there's a "more on". Then I see the editor on duty is michael. And I think to myself, "ah, of course".

how hard would it be to keep track of the 5 users who patch as well?
