I have received awesome support from Dell via India during non-standard business hours. How does getting support from someone in India differ than if its from Texas? Either way its still remote.
One thing I never understand about the papertrail argument when it comes to E-Voting. How does a machine printing out your vote on a slip of paper indicate that that is what was recorded?
The only feasible way I can see this working in an anonymous system is by always tallying the paper votes. However, if thats the case why have the electronic version anyways?
If your power company has not already been notified that a resident is on life support, they should be. Many of them track important information like this.
Actually...
Goretex is a breathable fabric. If water gets in it can get out. Thats the whole point of it. Otherwise you might as well wear rubber shoes.
While it may be convenient that OpenOffice.org comes installed with Ubuntu, it can be installed on Vista. I dont really see this as a good point to argue on. If you are going to compare Ubuntu to Windows and you mention OpenOffice.org, you are entering Office territory.
An interesting comparison would be Ubuntu + OpenOffice and Vista + Office 2007. Personally, I prefer Office XP or Office 2007. Using either OpenOffice or Office 2003 gives me a headache.
"the majority of your basic applications are too linear and have too many dependencies between instructions for dynamic threading to really be worth the investment in hardware"
Good lord, let me sell all my web, application, and DB servers then!!!! I've overpaid for 32 CPU systems!!!! ACK!!!
I wouldn't call server applications or dbms "basic applications."
The problem however is the impact malaria has on societies in tropical regions. The lost productivity in these areas due to the impact of disease is at least a part of why these societies struggle to compete with their northern and southern contemporaries. Increasing productivity is almost always a win for everyone, so I don't see why a policy of letting nature run its own course would be worth sticking to.
Paradigm Shift in the correct context refers to a change in world-view. It sounds like the previous worldview is subscription based content provider/ISP. The new worldview would be Advertising and Marketing. The usage seems to fit.
Many of us do not pay per megabyte on our cable services. The uploading is just using up bandwith that goes idle anyways. I believe this is true for a majority of the people in my community, with a few exceptions of a small group running eMule heavily.
I cannot speak for office 2003, but Office XP and 2000 knock OpenOffice off its feet in terms of loading time, performance and stability.
I also run office on a few lower-end machines. The difference in load times is quite dramatic, even with the quickstarter.
I guess you had better not ever open a phonebook.
Dude, its just a number. It'll be ok. Calm down.

If there is such strong demand, why not raise the price?

I had similar experiences in 2002. In general menus and window animations are now fluid and clean. Many programs have load quicker as well.
Lighten up
Indiana's government website also uses Cha Cha. Coincidence? I think not. http://ingov.chacha.com/search/query?query_text=

Companies can also pay dividends
I've seen this comment before....
Did anyone notice its Windows Internet Explorer 7 and not Microsoft Internet Explorer 7?
From what I've seen, its mainly been AIM and yahoo here. MSN seems to be gaining ground with its "Live" release.
This might help: The Clapper
Suspending drivers license or eligibility for drivers license for 1-2 years would be pretty good punishment for this kid.
This isn't necessarily a specific organization, but for casing, you might need to find someone with Industrial Design background.
