i always thought it would make a great conspiracy dystopian story where the superrich, with everything automated, don't need us anymore so they simply kill us all off the earth reduced to 700,000 souls from 7,000,000,000 in a matter of days (some sort of highly infectious agent?)
Wait wait wait. If we are talking about little more than a word swap, wouldn't the standards that were previously applied to things like snail mail be the same for electronic communication? Has the law ever been used or interpreted to cover mailing a paperback fiction book counting?
Good thing we learned so much about the obligations of ethical reporting from the Rolling Stone debacle.
Both rape & pollution are bad enough without fabricating stories, but it's not about the truth. It's about building the narrative for the "truth" you want people to believe.
Honestly though the only reason to get an Explorer instead of a minivan is because you don't want to "look" old even though you are.
Either that, or the fact that the Explorer has a 5,000 lb. towing capacity vs. the 3,500 max you get from most minivans, and also has higher profile seating, etc. I was worried about functionality more than anything else. But yeah, the Explorer is the typical "go-to midlife crisis chick magnet" vehicle that most older guys get, so there's that too.
Progressives want you to smarten up. You want to do them physical harm. That's the difference between civilized people and people like you.
Here's what I think of when I think of "progressives". And this. These people would be more than happy to harm you if you don't "smarten up" and conform to their world view, so don't you dare think you have some sort of moral high ground to stand on.
Why do people want to drive these things? They aren't attractive, they don't stop/go fast, they can't carry much stuff.
Can't speak for the pathfinder, but I have a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT & it rocks. We get a ton of snow in the winter, so AWD is a very nice convenience. Also, the height of the vehicle is helpful for seeing other traffic over snowbanks at intersections.
We also have the tow package so we can haul a pop-up camper we were given as a hand-me-down from my folks.
Finally, my dogs love it. We can fit our Dane's memory foam bed in the back with the 3rd row down, and he can sprawl out. Much easier for him when we go on long trips.
The whole idea of faith is belief without proof; if God "proved" himself then we have proof, and no faith. Or something like that, is what all the religious people tell me.
No it's not. All the religious people you've talked to have gotten it wrong. Even Jesus asked his disciples to make their decision about him based upon what they had witnessed:
If God is real, and requires his followers to do all the anti-humanity acts in the various texts, that entity shouldn't be worshiped anyway.
Why not? How can you, in a universe without objective moral truth, say anyone should or shouldn't do anything and be able to have any legitimacy? The very best you can do is state a preference, but you can't make a moral judgement.
God is quite a violent entity; I'd rather have us go it alone than have some homicidal, all-powerful creature just waiting to burn me forever in hell because I mowed my lawn on a Saturday.
Yes, atheistic regimes have been peaceful & made the world a better place. *smh*
I'm not Joe Mechanic or anything like that, but I know enough to change my air, fuel & oil filters, add fluids, etc. I've even done tune-ups on my older cars, but what about the real grease monkeys who can fix anything on a vehicle? Wouldn't this type of law put the Auto-Zones, Napas & the like out of business? I don't know where they get the majority of their sales, but I know a sizeable amount has to come from home car repair/tuning enthusiasts.
That does not make any sense. How could a 1.8 billion light-year supervoid be anyone's mother? Furthermore how could it be a mother of someone on Earth?

I called Makerbot to get an education price quote on a printer & materials to compare with other 3D printer manufacturers. I had to call back 4 times before the guy actually sent me a quote, and all I wanted was a printer & 10 spools of filament. He was supposed to send me some sample prints as well, and never did. Needless to say, Makerbot lost any consideration for what is going to be our first of several purchases.
Under capitalism, the people with the money have LOTS of choices. The vast majority of us, not so many choices.
The fact that some people have more choices doesn't mean that you have less. It's not a zero-sum game. Why only complain about rich people?Smart people have more choices. Beautiful people have more choices. Fast people have more choices. Healthy people have more choices. Strong people have more choices.
You probably have more choices than you realize, but your own mentality is partly what's holding you back. Nothing is stopping you with coming up with an idea, starting up a business, working hard to make it successful, and limiting your pay so you can pay your employees more.
That's what's wrong with 'Murica today, too much socialism. We need to nip this kind of thinking in the bud! When will the working class realize that they only benefit when their betters are allowed to run things as they see fit, unrestricted by regulations and burdensome tax laws?
I realize you're trolling, but there's nothing about capitalism that prohibits benevolence. This seems to be a very confusing point for many people.
The owner decided to do this of his own free will, regardless of what his motive was. That's the point of freedom. You're allowed to choose. Under socialism, your choices are far more limited. As with most forms of collectivism, either things are mandatory or they're prohibited.
Good business practice? Silly boosterism? Enlightened self-interest?
Why not all of the above? He's generating buzz for his company, one which I've never heard of before. His employees will probably be happier, and he's probably getting stock options or something else we don't know about here, so that fits both the good business practice AND enlightened self-interest. It could turn out to be "silly boosterism" if it doesn't end up having any of those effects, but you won't know that immediately...
The way the whole campus rape thing is handled seems idiotic to me. Why is sexual assault an issue for colleges or universities to handle? IMHO, it should be a police matter. If a student reports that they were sexually assaulted to a college or university, the college or university should have to report it to the local authorities, instead of being handled internally.
The most common reason I hear for not doing this is that the victim doesn't want their assailant to go to prison. Why? So they can continue raping other people? Chances are the victim isn't the rapists first victim, or if they were, they won't be the last. Suspending a rapist from school or making them transfer does not protect other people.
The other problem I have with having colleges or universities handle this problem is that I've heard of several instances where there wasn't due diligence in fact finding, and there was a presumption of guilt against the alleged assailant. Let the justice system handle what the justice system was created for. Colleges & universities should stick to educating people and doing research, not adjudicating serious crimes.
I applaud him. He's protesting what is the #1 problem in government today in a peaceful way that was sure to make headlines. The problem isn't people like him, the problem is people who are apathetic about the issue in the first place.
Campaign finance is NOT the #1 problem in government today. It's a symptom of the real disease, which is the fact that government has enough power that makes politicians worth being "financed" in the first place. Reduce the government's ability to hand out corporate welfare & pick who gets to be the winners & losers in the marketplace, and you'd see a lot less money in politics.
this is not the civilisation clone you're thinking of... this one here is purely played online using a HTML5 capable browser...
Actually, it is. They just made a new version of it using HTML 5, but it is the same game.
That's because nothing is really rated as bulletproof...
What if the bullets are made out of Aluminium oxynitride too?

Sounds like the plot of Helix.

Two words: Selective Enforcement.

Funnily enough, the iPod which did not work as a removable HD is the thing that made me switch away from apple, some 12 years ago.
Funnily enough the iPod has had disk mode for about 12 years. They must have enabled it right after you switched away...

The EcoBoost V6 has plenty of spunk -- enough that the local sheriff's office & the state police have some in their fleet, and I have a ton of hauling space if I put down the 2nd & 3rd row seats. Right after we got it, we bought a new kitchen sink, cabinets & countertop, and were able to fit everything in one trip.

One thing we've known for a long time is that a good half of them are sons of bitches.
Yeah, but they're still better than most people. ;-)
What would they have to gain by doing this if they didn't?
Denial of accountability/responsibility--at least until everyone forgets about this and focuses on the next scandal somewhere else.
But it's fine for the 0.01% to rewrite the laws to allow themselves to seize an ever-greater portion of the national profits?
So basically, what you're saying is "The rich and powerful are corrupting the government. The only solution is more government!"

Capitalism allows business owners and leaders to CHOOSE to make decisions like this.
Count of business owners making such a decision under capitalism: 1
Smells like argument from ignorance to me.
Socialism forces them to do it. Liberals don't really understand the importance of this distinction.
Oh, we understand perfectly.
And that's exactly why it's a problem.
That's what's wrong with 'Murica today, too much socialism. We need to nip this kind of thinking in the bud! When will the working class realize that they only benefit when their betters are allowed to run things as they see fit, unrestricted by regulations and burdensome tax laws?

The popularity of Wikipedia is due more to the convenience of citing an article in it, and not necessarily the accuracy of those articles.
This. Wikipedia is a great starting point for research, but it should not be the end point.
Cub killing actually is a male domain, and more or less only happens 'inside' of a pride.
Lions don't strive around and kill rival prides cubs, the idea is retarded.
At least not on a measure that is relevant for this discussion.
And yet here's a a video of a lioness killing a rival pride's cubs. Maybe it's not such a retarded idea after all...
