They had a really nice reader, but they kept it so locked down and there was so little content.
I've been using my Franklin EBookMan for 3 years now. I love the backlight, I can read in bed at night and not bother my wife. It's also facing the same problems as the Gemstar.
I was really excited and taken in by all the hype several years ago. I like to read books. I also thought there was unlocked potential in the Rocket(Gemstar) or something similar for technical manuals. I frequently use Many different technologies(HPUX, AIX, WinNT, Oracle, SQL, Shell, ASP, Cold Fusion etc. etc.) in my consulting business. I always thought these devices would be great for carrying multiple reference manuals instead of those 10 pound books.
There are literally thousands of these machines spread across Europe.
I've just secured a distributorship here in the South East for one of the major manufacturers. Walmart getting into the business is a little scary. Altough McDonalds has recently gotten into the business. Also, if these guys are doing it, there Must be some validity to the market:)
WOT, sorry: Lumpy could you contact me at l810c@yahoo.com? I'd like to know where this is and what machine they are using.
I use RFID tags in my business. They come on a ~1.5" round sticker for my application. The 'chip' is ~ 1mm *.5mm, the rest of the space is an antenna. I've tried removing these and replacing them and it almost never works. One little crimp in the antenna and my RFID reader will not read it.
Tagsys, however, also has a 'Laundry Tag' that:
Chip is durable (5 years or 200 washing cycles). It lasts longer than the garment lifetime.
Does not require line of sight to be read

Or one size larger would be great for crowd control. The HS2000(Hippy Sucker) with a clear tube would give you quite a show at a 'peace' rally.
Is there is some large untapped handheld market or do people own 2,3 and 4 handhelds?
This is the place for Geeks
I just always feel left in the dust and like by the time I can get a new one, I'll have missed out one something good. Or maybe just get in on something better.
Most all of us have been playing this same game for years with CPU's, Graphics Cards, Sound Boards, Mice etc., etc.

If I know that I am going to someplace to fix something I will usually bring a cdrom with many more utilities. But most days I don't feel like carrying a cdrom in my pocket.
Actually, I clicked on the order link and it gave the same price in USD as EUR. Those in Europe should order with $ if possible.

I purchased my first USB drive a couple of months ago. I love it. As the family and friends 'computer guy'(not to mention work), I'm always fixing this or that on other peoples computers. I keep a collection of utilities on my drive so that I can plug it in and have most everything I need.
