    Channel 4, for our US readers, is a pretty intelligent, insightful, inciteful channel. (Apart from Hollyoaks, and Big Brother). If you can watch it, watch the Channel 4 news at 7 UK time each evening. You'll learn about the real world in general, without that nasty US slant.
    You Americans might even learn something about cricket too. :)

    I was suprised when I told a guy that I thought was knowledgable about nix that -X -s 65535 showed the contents of the packets too. He thought tcpdump was just for looking at the types of packets.

    Of course, mentioning sausage in that text completely bust their theory. It's like saying to someone: "Don't think of a black cat." The first thing you do is think of one. One of the ideas in NLP (neuro linguistic programming) is that the brain doesn't take account of negatives in speech.

    I had a script that asked for "linux" jobs every 6 hours, and plotted it. It dips sharply for New Year obviously. Unfortunately, I've moved house, and I don't have a public IP address any more. I'd think twice before posting a link anyway! :)

    Does anyone else find kernel.org quite insane? 1007 processes, pumping 250Mb/1000Mb, with uptimes (before they upgraded to 2.6) over a year.
    Me wants root@kernel.org. Just to say I had it. :)

    On another note - vsftpd is supposed to be really good, but it's not as flexible as proftpd, is it.

    Linux users can use the dcraw util to convert RAW into TIFF format. It also has a plugin for GIMP which works fine. On my camera though, the RAW files are 6.3Mb, and the TIFFs created with dcraw are 18Mb.

    Have a look at my pics, too. :)

    Yeah - microsoft.com resolves, but not www.microsoft.com. Same with gmail.google.com, and www.google.com.
    I imagine some people at Akamai are sweating a bit right now :)

    Funny how McDonalds is the epitomy of bad fattening food, environmentally unsound, and a nasty big corporation, but when they're switching to Linux they're OK.

    Why do people keep buying their food anyway? I have to assume that people forget how bad it us until a nice shiny advert comes along and convinces them how good it is. Those nice soggy floppy burgers. Hmm.

    The UK is really descending into a Big Brother state, with Blunkett trying to get all the draconian measures in he can.
    I wonder, if there was a list of steps that a state needed to take to be completely like 1984, how many of these steps the UK government would have taken?

    I think the government will only be happy when they tax us so much that we can't afford to do wrong, and they can monitor our movements all the time.
    I also think the UK wouldn't be so high on the list of targets if we didn't blindly support whatever the US does, which usually seems to anger much of the world.
