    This happens over and over and over again-- with some users, I'm afraid to upgrade their software because their "world" sadly depends on the cargo cult execution of gestures to get their work done.


    I would have thought this was an exaguration if it hadn't happened to me. I was helping a user fix a problem on her PC, and she was lost because the icon that started the program had moved on her desktop.

    It's bizzare. If I moved your stapler from the left side of your desk to the right, would you call help desk?

    Uh, your solution would require a quarter of a million blank DVDs.

    At that point, I would use hot swappable hard drives. 4,200 250GB drives is far more manageable.

    Why would land be worth anything in WoW? It doesn't matter how popular it is, you simply can't make money from it.

    You should be seeing the light. You can make a ton of money on a much less popular game by simply allowing people to own stuff and make money off of it. Like rental properties and such.

    Did you just call them stupid for thinking that Science and engineering has no future, then say you're not sure if an engineering degree is lucrative?

    I didn't go into the sciences, because the entry level science jobs looked like janitorial work. And if you're lucky, you might actually do something worthwhile after about two decades.

    Engineering? 4 years of crazy math and teachers telling you to go "Look it up.", I might as well just toss my money into a bonfire.

    The fact is, unless it's a hobby, no one is going to improve their skills in anything unless it brings in money to support themselves and their family.

    Oh, you mean the US is the only one who bothered to make one? Even though China and other countries have been dealing with outbreaks of cross species flu for at least 3 decades?

    So, Taiwan knows about this problem, they are not a poor country, and instead of investing and researching the problem, they just steal the answer from someone else who was willing to put the time and effort into a solution?

    Yeah, no wonder the world hates the US.

    The situation (Intel's, not necessarily the difference) should change RSN when Intel's 65nm process comes online.


    Yeah, but Intel has been depending on technical solutions to cover for their designing flaws. AMD can use yesterday's cheaper fab technology to achieve the same performance through superior design.

    Eventually, Intel won't be able to make a smaller die, and then they'll have to go back to the drawing board and start over to make something that can compete in the marketplace.

    I'm assuming that lithographic CPUs are not going to be replaced though some revolutionary new processor design. Organic CPUs, Quantum tech, or whatever.
    Because then Intel would end up being top dog again because only they would have the money to throw at R&D and the new fabs.

    Well, currently I'm working in an operations position that they've farmed out to "contract" agencies. No raises, you pay for your benifits (Vacation, medical, sick leave, etc), no chance for promotion.

    It's like Office Space. You only work hard enough not to get fired. Those with any ambition are out interviewing for new jobs.

    So for this to work, is to have the groups venture into each others contested territory, and molest the gold farmers unmolested.

    Yeah, and look at how bad the US is at it! They have nukes, gas, carpet bombing, they could wipe out Iraq to the last man woman and child. What do they do?

    Target terrorists, repair infrastructure, build schools and plant Democracy. If we're using the "Spend money on killing people" metric, the US is a dismal failure.
