    I donated to an open source hardware group called "Global Village Construction Set".

    I hate the whole "Global Village" concept. I love the idea of sitting down and designing hardware to be cheap to make, and giving away the designs.

    And just like open source, you can improve on the original designs, fix any flaws, etc.

    Why are you twisting the reduction in Federal organisations into a reduction of local ones?

    Not even if they paid me.

    MS has a history of abusing their market position. I can't imagine the nightmare their phones will be if they ever become the #1 OS for phones.

    Every day, EVERY DAY I'm dealing with some kind Windows issue. Why would I also want that kind of user experience on my phone?

    The cash flows have shrunk dramatically. So the government will pick itself over all those "Job holders", every time.

    You can't fix this, but you can lessen the damage by having a small government.

    Math is the language used to describe the physical interactions of the universe.

    They think they've come up with something that will accurately describe the physical phenomena of oil and water interaction. This will examined by people who are doing work in relevant studies.

    If you want an explanation of *why* they act like this, go find someone who's job involves working with this phenomena and he/she will probably be happy to talk about it.

    Welcome to life. You will NEVER know when any situation will get out of control and turn on you. From driving to work in the morning, to waking up in the middle of the night to a sick child.

    If you can't deal with that, you are not an adult, you are a child. And you rightfully should run to someone to take care of things for you.

    Set up a box with a nice graphics card in it.
    Enough other components to get it to boot up.

    Then have your iPhone be the HD where the games rest upon and primary CPU.

    By using half of the components from your phone, they'll be able to build a cutting edge console *much* cheaper. And since they were already envisioning this sort of setup as "The computer of the future" it will give them invaluable experience towards that goal.

    Apple doesn't do "Cheap".

    And the last time an expensive, but high quality console hit the market, it flopped. I'm thinking of the 3DO.

    One of the big reasons the Nintendo Wii did so well is that it was cheap in comparison to the other consoles.

    So yes, if Apple can make a platform that's easy to make games for, high quality, AND cheaper than the alternatives, they'll clean up.

    Oh NO. He's saving me from buying liquor! How exactly are you seeing that happening? He charges into the store and points and you, shouting "Stop!"

    You worry about super heroes doing things that so far, only the government has been successful at.

    The Mass effect franchise story has revolved around the plotline that the reapers come by every X years and wipe out all intelligent lifeforms.

    So, yes. It's not original. They've done it twice so far. It's the BACKBONE of the plotline!

    It's not that I want to burn it. It's that MS can't be trusted.

    Imagine what would happen if they gained 90% market share again. Do you think they will have learned their lesson? Or that they'll do the same BS they always do when they have the upper hand?

    Same reason I won't touch a smartphone with an MS OS.

    That's why people duel in the open. So you're not worried about being killed unexpectedly. It HELPS people work in groups.

    I never get where people get the idea of electing anything right of center will "Destroy the country".

    I remember arguing with someone over this for the 2004 elections, where "Electing Bush will cause the greatest environmental disaster the world has ever seen!"

    But hey, maybe you know something I don't. Lets say Bachmann becomes President. And Congress gets a veto-proof majority of Republicans. Now what? What is the mechanism that the US is "Destroyed"?
