  2. Grammar Police on Microsoft: We Make Hackers Obsolete · · Score: 3, Funny

"Microsoft software is carefully designed to keep your company's valuable information in, and unauthorised people and viruses out. Which means that your data couldn't really be safer, even if you kept it in a safe. Which is great news for the survival of your company. But tragic news for hackers."

Obviously Microsoft does not value grammar:
    1. You can't start sentences with "which".
    2. "But tragic news for hackers." is an incomplete sentence, and so, is wrong.

Perhaps instead of lying about how safe their software is, they should work on improving Microsoft Office's grammar checker.

I don't think it's just you. I got DSL from Verizon not too long ago, and they just upgraded my DSL access from 40KB/s to about 218KB/s for $5. That makes it about 1.6Mbps for app $45. I don't find this to be wildly expensive. However, I am worried about acessibility. When will we be able to use this? They say "roll out", however this could mean that it's coming out in some remote town in Montana, or it could mean that they'll switch all their stations over to this new speed.

I thought the whole point of having Linux is that it's not the same as Windows? Sure, it's "cute" to have Linux look like Windows, but I'd prefer to have my Linux look like Linux, and not like Windows XP. That being said , I do see the interest in a Windows-like environment (something like Lindows) for people who are starting out with Linux, after switching from Windows to Linux. Perhaps it would give them more of a sense of familiarity, though I don't know how valid that is.

  17. Sure I know it's Illegal on Legal Issues Don't Bother American Downloaders · · Score: 0

I know filesharing is illegal. I know I really *should* go out and buy the CD or the DVD instead of downloading it. The problem (with music, at least) is that I find out that very little of the money is going to the artists themselves. I find that the music industry is getting tons of money for something they didn't even create. This makes me ask myself: Do I want to support the music industry? Quite simply, the answer is no. I discover that my money is really going where it ought, and I get annoyed. On a more legal note, what if I see a song that I want to hear, but the rest of the CD sucks. Should I go and buy a $25 CD for one song? My answer: Hell no. -Dae

  18. Reality Games? Get with reality first. on Alternate Reality Games Grab Mindshare · · Score: 0

My question is: What's the point? Why play alternate reality games when you have the reality right around you. Many people know movie characters better than they know other people around them. Everyone is expected to know who some movie character is, and if they don't, then they are labeled as "weird". I think people have enough trouble with reality, and dealing with things that happen in real life. Over 50% of the American populace think Saddam Hussein ordered the 9/11 attack. Shouldn't the people get to know our reality properly, before they start in on alternate reality? -Dae

I think this is the case for many games. For example, Descent 3 is also a pretty old game. During a typical day, there are tons of people online, playing an chatting. Also, Total Annihilation (probably even older) has a very dedicated fan base online, with goups releasing mods for it regularly. I don't think it's the age of the game that matters so much as the quality. If it's a good game, then people will keep playing. Also, you can take Tetris as an example.
