...Oh, lets dump it after a 3 day test because Mary Jane in accounting didn't like the fact the menus item in OO/org wer in a different order than in Word.. Jeesh...
You can eventually hire a consultant to say anything you want in a report, as has been demonstrated repeatedly....and who takes out a full page (or 2 page) ad in that rag every month, page 2&3 IIRC?
Dude, I have been shopping at Frys for years... Other than the MFR not handling the rebates right, I have never had ANY issue, and Frys hardly has control of the rebates.
Frys ads always say "w $XX mail in rebate" I just never buy items w/mail in rebates, unless it's great deal without it, which happens. . Simple.
Anyone with $600 and ANY Linux experience can have a decent dual tuner (PVR250) HW mpeg Athlon box built from retail parts running in 2 hours, recording shows in mythtv, on a 250G drive. Suggest Nvidia 440 MX w/svideo+dvi out.
Install Mandrake 10, and google for "easy urpmi", "thacs" and "PLF" add the sources (including main and contrib) , and "urpmi mythtv-suite".
I highly suggest a broadband connection, and avoiding ALSA on NForce2 hardware.
I also suggest an Antec Sonata or Overture case, as they have 120mm fans, which are quieter AND move more air.
OK...But have they fixed the bit where it randomly crashes every 5 minutes?
Not meant as a troll, that is exactly why I gave up on Gnome years ago, and started using KDE.
Every time I upgraded RH (several versions, we're talking years here) I gave gnome a shot, and every time something (button click/standard app/config tool) caused gnome to leave a smoking crater within 5 minutes.
I NEVER had that problem with KDE. If I wanted flakey, I'd run Windows.
Slashdotted already.
Hopefully he wasn't running Solaris 10...
As to "small but works" single CD installs, MEPIS got my vote when I installed it last week, _very_ slick, and it is actually a Debian system.
MEPIS is also apt-get upgrade worthy, unlike Knoppix, that has always gotten hosed when trying an apt-get update/upgrade cycle.
Please mod parent up. My points vanished

Consider your sources.
Flourinert FC77 costs $450 for a 14 lb can, which is about 1 litre...
(Fluorocarbons are HEAVY)
Go ahead and buy that vapo-chill system.
A 366Mhz Geode is not going to suck anywhere remotely near the power required by (anything else)
In a LOT of places, solar/wind or bicycle generator power *will* be able to run these.
`nuff said...
Note the "law" doesn't just torture NASA exclusively, it just rears its head very visibly in their case.
They liscence Hypertransport...
Perhaps Larry, Moe, Curly, and Shep?
Somebody mod parent up please.
Perhaps they'll release a *BSD based *OS* for X86, with a KILLER search engine feature...
Of course MS couled do the same, but I dount they will quite naul the search the same way...
GoogleOS anyone?
Well, if what they modify is GPL, they don't have to worry about that, unless they are distributing their mods...
What one does in-house is ones own buisiness as far as the GPL is concerned.
Besides, all one would have to do is modify an input and output filter here and there, assuming MS source actually would really help.
The link is facinating research, looks like they may have nailed T1 diabetes and possibly many other autoimmune diseases.
By accident as usual.
Now that the source is available, Duke Nukem IS "forever"
First post??/
Finally something for Sun to crow about.
One word: DMA.
hdparm -iI will reveal all.
Also try a UDMA 66/100 (80 wire) cable.
Please tell slashdot this moron professors name, so we can reeducate him, if that's possible.
Time to add a 250G drive to my Mythtv setup...
What, you cant run xpdf, or kpdf, or gv, or even (if all else fails of course) use the free Adobe PDF viewer?
Jackass...
I would prefer a ~6 month public comment period, after full public disclosure.
Also infers requirement by PO to listen and follow up.
It's going public anyway...
cheap, almost free, and if noone cares, it gets approved.
Also would disseminate the "new" ideas, which is the REAL point of patents in the first place.
One more requirement: must be comprehensable to the average HS graduate, and provide FREE links to all references. (implies HTML)

I am hoping thousands of PHBs come into work Monday AM waving this a pr00f that Linux costs more ...
It will be hysterical;-0

Reality collapses, of course, Right?
