I feel more sorry for me. I imagine if you have a television like this it didn't cost "a year's pay" but actually only a fraction of it. Of course, I think it would probably cost me a couple of years pay.
Aren't laser discs better fidelity? I haven't seen one in a long time, but they were pretty large (like an LP). I don't know what clever compression techniques were in use back then, but it surely wasn't mpeg2.
DVDs are okay, but the mpeg encoding can sure leave a lot of artifacts when the color range is not wide (skies, darkness, fog).
All are good points. But God help them if they're trying to learn English in WoW. Chatting with some people there makes the part of my brain that learned English die a little bit every time.
It will show up as a normal window, yes.
But it will be a window that is ALWAYS on top of other windows, so you essentially lose the screen space to the widget. It's nice that Konfabulator offers different window levels (6) as well as opacity options.
I wish I'd fought for a higher starting salary. Due to #3, and the volitile nature of state funding, raises are not all that amazing (if they even happen). Your starting salary should be as high as you can wrangle it. Due to point #2 though, they may say their hands are tied and that will be that. Play up EVERY bit of education and experience you have. They can usually work with that.
#1 is right on with where I work to. A nice (overall) environment to work in...just not as competitive with salaries as they think/claim they are.
Until it can fly, it hops and glides. If one that hops and glides breeds with a similar one which does not, the offspring may get the hop/glide benefits.
It's usually a case of hopping was better than crawling. When the crawlers began to hop, the hoppers began to fly. Very slow process, and lots of dead ends in development. But sometimes, things worked out. tweet tweet.
My friend was always a little "wierd" too. Just as wierd as me usually. But, in light of a schizophrenia diagnosis... the wierder parts started making a lot more sense.
I don't blame you for posting this on Slashdot. It's a big crowd of people...there are bound to be a few that have experiences with schizophrenia. And when this news hits, it's pretty scary and you just want to know more from anywhere!
I have a friend that may be schizophrenic. They keep changing the diagnosis between bipolar and schizo. The initial events were pretty scary. She ultimately disappeared for a month or so (both mentally and physically). After some institutionalization and meds, she's much better. I think sticking to the meds is probably the best advice. Of course, with the number of crappy side-effects, I'm sure that will be hard. Avoiding stressors is also good advice, but..yeah...hard to do in a 'normal' life.
But, so far, my friend has been doing quite well and she seems happy and healthy. I think she does get bothered/scared when symptoms flair up (voices, hallucinations, etc.) Something she'll have do deal with for the rest of her life I suppose. But, I'm glad she's alive and with us again. Good luck.
I ponder doing something else, but CS appeals to me the most. I've resigned myself to future uncertainty and I'm just learning for the pleasure of it. Always keeping in mind how what I learn can apply to other jobs/disciplines.
Everyone else I know getting English Majors or Religious Studies degrees isn't exactly pursuing the almight dollar. I'm in good company. Poor, but good.:-)

A popular lunch item in southwestern school cafeterias: Chile con Carne...with meat!
You have to write Linux(tm).

It isn't exactly sugar water though, is it?
"Everytime someone says 'who cares what it looks like' Steve Jobs dies a little bit."
Who cares what it looks like?
mwuhahahahahah!
But I do believe in fairies.
The end game is to morph into a building of some sort. My parents always wanted me to be a Hydralisk Den but Spawning Pool is more my passion.
Or impersonating a customer? I tend to do that regularly...when I'm broke. Watch out World!

I think I took a windows scripting class with her. ;-)

So large as to be easily seen from space?

i voted for kerry, but I presume that he's the butt of this joke. I thought it was funny, but have no mod points.
Hannibal is pissed with Tolkien and Lucas, I'm sure.

Then why not XFree85 or XFree87?
"Aphrodite A" was her name. Yes, quite an effect on the young, developing, male mind.
I work at a University as well, and look forward to something like this for the same reasons.
