  1. Re:The ability to make homebrew apps adds value. on Lik-Sang Back Online, Minus Modchips · · Score: 2

I bought my flash kit to play NES games on my GBA. I have yet to add any .GBA roms to the flash cart, and I am not about to start now. I will pay for any GBA games I want to play (or I'll rent them from Hastings, whatever)

Now that they've made it possible to play NES games legally with the E-card reader and Animal Crossing for the Game Cube, I'll support that, as soon as they release third party games on the cards.. or even their better first person games (come on, Tennis and Excitebike don't count).

Beating the original Legend of Zelda on an 8 hour plane ride was easily worth the cost of the flash cart and writer I bought from Lik-Sang a few months ago.

Thank you very much for the info and the tip. (: I just bought a NEX IIe (well, ordered.. they said it would ship on Sep 25, but I can wait!) and a 340 meg microdrive (not from them though, they wanted twice as much as anyone else!)

For anyone interested, I bought the microdrive at http://www.buymstar.com/detailsSto.asp?pid=901 for 105 bucks, and it includes a PC card adapter for my laptop. Joy of joys. (:

When I'm writing stuff online, I use a very different form of "english". I still don't fall into the trap of "u" and "r", because that's just laziness. I *have* been caught using the shorthand "ppl", but that's about it. I once wrote a psychology paper in which I used "ppl" two or three times. I got an A on the paper, the teacher didn't even notice (or care to point out) the shorthand. I didn't notice it until I got it back. Whoops.

In Everquest, I play a cleric. This means I can resurrect (res/rez) other characters. I'm pretty mean about it, though. I will ONLY help them if they can bother to type out "can you res me please?" or something to that effect. "can u rez me plz" is just laziness pure and simple.

I don't like seeing it online, and I would *HATE* to see it as a teacher. I'll have to ask one of my teacher friends if this is really all that common. Hrmm.

    honey pot

    n.

A box designed to attract crackers so that they can be observed in action. It is usually well isolated from the rest of the network, but has extensive logging (usually network layer, on a different machine). Different from an iron box in that it's purpose is to attract, not merely observe. Sometimes, it is also a defensive network security tactic - you set up an easy-to-crack box so that your real servers don't get messed with. The concept was presented in Cheswick & Bellovin's book "Firewalls and Internet Security".

    ----

Aside from the change of "box" to "network", I'd say his def'n was pretty close to the current incarnation. Face it, the guy who asked the original question misused the term "honey pot", when he was trying to fill out his Buzzword Bingo card.

You can set the scaling so the game looks *almost* right... scale the background to fit the screen, and make the sprites the right resolution, and it usually works out pretty well.

I paid 5 KD, which is about 17 dollars for it.

I dunno, that might work, but it seems like we're missing something here. If we weren't, we'd have strings of pingpong balls across the pacific ocean to send data instantaniously...
