Actually.... He has a good point. People think that things are cheaper if they see a lower number in it. IE something for $1.99 will sell better than something for $2.00. It is because they think they are getting something for cheaper.
Companies have been doing this for years and its been working flawlessly.
As I was reading the article it took me a minute to really notice the picture of the skull. Well to notice that it was showing the back of the skull at the same time.
With that being said... Imagine what this could do for game skinners. Now using an old scanner and some legos you can easily skin in your own face to UT2k3 and other games.
I think you could easily get around this by burning one cd from them then making a direct image of the cd (or ripping the CD Audio to mp3). I really doubt they have a way of encrypting the cds that you burn from them to make it not possible to burn them later.
Remember... Any copy protection scheme has been broken hundreds of times before...
So... we should all go out and waste money on seeing movies like 'Legally Blond 2' or that new movie with the chick from Nsync and the guy from American Idol... or is it the guy from Nsync and the chick from American Idol?
Anyways... Most people that I know paid to see Matrix Reloaded(I did... Twice) I also downloaded it. The only people that have watched it with me are the same people that bought tickets and already saw the movie. Sure its still theft... But the studio made their money off of me (Twice) and my friends.
I just thought of another possible nod(although this one is a bit of a stretch...)
In 1984 the 'Place with no Darkness' is meant to be a new beginning. Winston thinks that it is the fall of the party... Is the 'Place with no darkness' is meant to be room 101(both in 1984 and Matrix Reloaded) then it is obviously meant to be a new begining. But since we(or atleast people who have seen it) know that isn't true(it, like in 1984, was the end but also a new begining just not the begining that winston thought it would be)(Following me here?).
Anyways... That is probably just me looking a bit too deep into it and making inferences that don't exsist.
After reading your post and you mentioning Orwell I thought of something... Room 101 is (as O'Brien puts it) "The place where there is no darkness" it could have possibly been a nod to Orwell having the room be brightly lit and the architect dressed in white...
Its either that or I am looking too deep into it.
the one problem is, is that the x-box version will probably be a downgraded version of the PC version. IE a bad port.
I(and a few other friends) are saving up now to upgrade our computers just for this game(I know it sounds 'geeky' and it will get ten flames under it 'oh hes a stupid fat gamer geek who never leaves his house and dsn't get laid' but do I really care? Not at all.)
I think not... I had an interesting(read: asinine) argument with someone once when I was still working at Software Etc. They said that by late 2003 Nintendo would be bankrupt because of the gamecube.
I always loved uninformed customers like that guy because they show how little the public really knows about the game companies or how much of a fan following the 'other' systems have.
Does anyone know if there is a BitTorrent file out for the 128mb TIFF? the nasa servers are a bit slow and I feel my hardware cycles and bandwidth could be of use...
The only problem is that right now Rare is dead weight for MS. By the time they make one decent game people will have forgotten about the X-box and will be on to the X-box2 or whatever they are calling their 'sequel' to it.
Sammy also has some Arcade and Console games. Namely the Street Fighter/MK killer Guilty Gear(and X and XX and XX Reload). To me Guilty Gear is the first fighting game to not really take itself seriously. I mean look at some of the charecters. You have a 9 foot tall doctor wearing a bag on his head that has an instant kill(they aren't very easy to pull off) move where you blow the opponent up after throwing him onto an opperating table.
But the best part has to be that every charecter and background is hand drawn. In an age of rush job video games its good to see something like this.
Or MS could do what they did with Rare and not release a game after buying them. I mean look at Rare's track record. Sure they had some amazing games but they only made like 7 games for nintendo in about that many years.
To me MS Buying Rare is just more wasting money and shooting themselves in the foot.
The thing I noticed with Resident Evil was that it added to the story line. It started in the Mansion and ended on the zombie and corpse lined streets of Raccoon. takes place before 1 and right before 2. Although re0 does make some of that story invalid...

Except there is a BIG button in the menu that says 'Play Custom Level'. Sure thats a game they don't want people to make custom levels for..
if it was a good series as an anime what makes people think it will be a good series live action? I mean there were plenty of good video games but they had AWFUL live action counterparts e.g. Mario Brothers, Street Fighter, Double Dragon et al.
Or you could wait for a DVDScr(DVD Sourced Screener) which is perfect quality(and much better than a movie theater can do). Hell the DVDScr for 'Die Another Day' had better video and audio than the local theater where I saw it.
Because we don't feel like spending 10 bucks a ticket for a movie that is probably not worth it. Look at some wretchful movies that are out there... Would you really want to PAY to see a movie like 'How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days' or 'What A Girl Wants'? Personally I feel that we shouldn't even have theaters anymore, what with home theaters becoming more and more affordable. Hell you can get a decent setup for about a grand and have a better experience than shelling out 10 bucks a view at a local theater run by pimple faced teenagers who barely know how to use a cash register let alone a projector.
I have actually gotten telemarketers on my cell phone. I don't know what is worse... getting an SMS message(which on my current plan I get unlimited SMS msgs a month) or a Telemarketer bothering me.
Sure you can just say "well don't pick up" but if I don't tell them to take me off their call list they will keep calling.
And how is that bad? I just hope that they are able to make the net code semi decent.
I for one welcome the Xbox Live! portion of the game... It should make it all the more worthwhile.
Maybe its a godsend that Acclaim won't be tarnishing the image of the GameCube with their shit.
Can you tell me the last time you(or anyone) was actually excited about buying an Acclaim made game?

Well you could figure out a work around. I mean this is just Lego... and with Lego The Possibilities are Endless(TM)
I suppose you could make some sort of cage that goes around your head and mount the scanner on that.
I know... Isn't it amazing? Someone that actually takes time to learn about things rather than just randomly posting things.

Behold the Power of Suggestion.

Atleast now we can recycle these drives... Anyone up for a /. BattleBots Team?

Technically they have this. And ::Gasps:: Sammy made it. Here is a review of it, and here are some screen shots from it.
It is actually a halfway decent game and a Hentai game to boot!

The X-box is still 200 isn't it? For that much I can scrounge around at garage sales and build 5 halfway decent boxes.
Hell if I really looked hard I could possible build closer to 10. I already have 5 consoles hooked up to my 1 tv... I don't need another.
