The slashdot blurb is highly misleading. Mistwalker studio is still independant, they are merely making 2 xbox360 exclusive RPG's to be published through microsoft games. They aren't going xbox exclusive, they are still making the DS game, and they are free to other make games for PS3 and revolution.
"Differences in ground potential between houses can destroy equipment, cause a shock or even be a fire hazard."
So, your saying that my 85+ft long copper into my garage, with the wire being badly frayed, open to the elements, and loose connectors, isn't such a great idea? It's got a pretty bad packet loss, but I can still access it at 3+MB/sec.
It's probably similar to how a parrot can talk, using it's highly developed, and mostly unused visual cortex, it sort of has some auxuilliary proccessing power for things like speach. I'd bet if one were to damage the eyes of an eagle just after birth, it'd have some surpirsing intelligent behaviors. Using this hypothesis, I'd also bet that autistic savants don't have very good awareness of thier 3d environment and some of the other awareness processes connected to that.
Exactly, the north americans who buy ps2's are less likely to care about square-enix games than the north americans who have gamecubes. They really need to pay attention to whats going on outside of japan.
Well, I do great on standardized tests, but I take into consideration that high stress causes inferior performance, and have well adapted myself for supressing it. Maybe I, and the other high scorers, are just outsmarting the shortcommings of high intelligence;)
I'd like to see some numbers of mac game sales vs. linux game sales actually. By my own observations, using a crossplatform game like ut2k4, that there are already more linux sales than mac sales. And when the mac doom3 finally comes out, I predict the same. I'd say there are more linux gamers overall than mac gamers, partially due to things like cedega and dualbooting making it easier for windows gamers to bear a gradual transition to linux, whereas a windows gamer would have to make a greater sacrifice to switch to a mac, not to mention how much easier(cheaper + availability) it is to get gaming PC hardware(vid cards, high end systems, etc.) then mac gaming hardware(g5's aren't cheap).
Q: How long does the PSP's battery last?
A: The short answer is that it depends on what you're doing. The longer answer is that Sony has stated that the battery should last around six hours. With simpler-looking games, like Lumines or Mahjong Fight Club, that definitely seems to be the case. But with more graphically intensive games, like Ridge Racers, the battery doesn't last quite as long. Based on our estimates and a few battery-draining tests, Ridge Racers seems to last somewhere between 90 minutes and three hours. Playing with the wireless networking switch flipped on will also further reduce your battery life. The system has an auto-sleep function that stops the wireless drain, but that switch is there for a reason. Turn it off when you're not using it.
"The flying disc thing is something you can _make_ it do if you try really hard. It's not something which happens in normal use."
I wonder what led to the discovery of the problem then, if it wasn't during the course of normal use.
"The square button is something which some people complain about, but most don't even notice."

Thousands of PSP returns out of only a few hundred k psp's sold? Sounds pretty serious. And it also sounds like there are no plans to fix the problem.
"Personally, given the US launch price of $250, I'm even more glad I imported mine from Japan for $350 and got it early."
It's too bad that sony didn't have prices as low as the japanese launch prices here, with thier basic pack working out to $185USD, $250 minimum at US launch looks pretty high.
Actually, there are MANY people for whom the DS is there first handheld system. And having an FPS demo at launch isn't exactly "for kids", neither are the PDA-like attributes, online prospects, launch games like 'feel the magic' and 'sprung' etc. This isn't a kids gameboy, it's a promissing gaming gadget.
mention the game anymore? What game is this concerning? It's probably World of warcraft as that is what people seem obsessed with at the moment, but still this posting is too vague.
Umm... Inviting people to lynch a judge because of a light sentence for a computer crime? That is far more sociopathic than the subject. I'd be FAR more interested in putting harsher punishments on corporate crime, it effects alot more people, why exactly do you prioritize your efforts on this minor stuff? And that sentence is actually pretty fair, atleast to this canadian and most europeans I'm guessing, hard sentencing doesn't reduce crime so why bother? Make the punishment fit the crime. I'm well away that you are a troll btw, you didn't 'get' me, this response is purely aimed at the idiotic mods who upped you.
Well considering the xbox runs an nt variant with near-directx atop that, perhaps the PS3 will have something resembling an OS underneath, and linux would certainly be a nice choice for such an application. One can wish ^_^
You can't stop this stuff anyway, with the current speed of technological advancement a few decades from now kids'll be messing around with this stuff on commodity equipment, better to gain understanding of these things now while only trained scientists have the skills.
Ridge racers DS is a rushed port of an n64 game(I own RR:DS btw, it has it's moments), RR PSP is the best looking PSP game so far, hardly a fair comparison. Try comparing Need For Speed Underground PSP vs. DS, much better comparison, although the PSP still wins in looks, the DS version stands up MUCH better. Here's some pics for comparison (DS pic is a scan, both pics are not guarenteed final release pics):

They weren't even too keen on them in the NES and SNES days, they went SEGA-->SONY-->inching towards microsoft. So if your gaming taste is soccer games, rally games and the like, definately buy the PSP. I'll go with the DS and get the nice japanese RPG's and the innovative end products of japanese Psilocybin consumption ^_^
I thought he was sticking with WMV and wanted an additional format for non-windows people, so it shouldn't matter if it isn't an optimal format for windows surfers, it's just the alternative source.
"Because of course nobody at the top actually worked their way up there. Once again most people are too lazy and shortsighted to do the kind of hard work and risk taking required to become successful."
Out of the truly powerful, a small minority actually had to work thier way up from nothing, the majority are from rich and powerful families. And no, their power isn't genetic. I have alot less problems with a self-made man as a political leader then I do with the current cabal.
I'd gladly take a longevity treatment even if the price were having to move into a space colony or something. And where I live the popuation density is very low, with nearly all farms abandoned, the price for living in the more hospitable areas of the world that would be afflicted severly by overpopulation could be population controls for only those areas.
And the genre is RPG? How can that be. Also, by console, they mean xbox.

They also have an out of date pic for the DS, the old E3 model they have a pic of looks noticeably different than the production model.

And why do you discount the large numbers of adults who own DS's? That nintendo is for kids stuff is the puerile mantra of sony/xbox fanboys.

If you search google for: best linux , the first distro website is gentoo.org, so I guess we all know which is best ;)

Yes, it seems clear the author has an agenda, and wants to give the mice/brain experiment some targeted publicity in the hopes of having it stopped.

It'd be great for learning though if they can make a 2 hour treatment or something.
In his novel Tomorrow and Tomorrow.
