  1. Don't hold your breath.... on China Accelerates Mars Program · · Score: 1

China has sent up how many men.... ummmm ZERO. Personally I don't hire someone who has never worked with a PC to work as a programmer. Do you honestly think I'm going to bet on a country that has yet to send a man into space to figure out how to get a man on Mars? But beyond all of this. Who gives a flying F$%& if they do manage to make it onto Mars. They are still left with a starving country. How does launching a mission to Mars help to feed their population. It would really be nice to see them figure out their problems that they have back here on Earth first before they look towards the stars. (And that goes for just about every country).

It's nice to see a good article like this one. Sure it lacks depth, but it shows that even a hard core Windows user can see what draws many of us to use Linux instead. I would love to see a similar article where various people are forced to give up using Windows (or Mac) for a week and made to use Linux for their daily PC routine (of course with someone to help them along the way nearby) to see how quickly they adapt to the new environment.

is that I have to blame this once again on Microsoft who seem to add loads of rarely used features to all of their releases of products such as Office. Then they turn around and remove backwards compatibility for those who would choose to stick with older and less (but not much) bloated version. Companies hate to have to upgrade since this costs them valuable capital. But the liscense policies of corporations such as M$ tend to lock them into buying software which bloats larger with each release.

As a java programmer, I have never found java to be limited as a closed source language. The overall structure of the language is easily expandable and adaptable enough to fit my daily needs. And by introducing a new non-sun version of java leads to the same problems that M$ had with J++ where 100% pure sun java code is incompatible with other flavors. Sometimes I believe that certain things, especially programming languages, are better left untouched by multiple sources. It strengthens the language when it remains uniform.
