I have to call BS on this. The effects of asbestos have been known since the Roman Empires. There are several ways of rendering asbestos less harmful however, you might be surprised to find asbestos is *still* used in the US (and rest of the world I might add) in floortile. However, it's been rendered "non-friable", meaning, it's damned difficult to make the fibers airborne, thus making it safer.

Your experience must differ radically from mine, of all the russian people I have met (my wife is, unfortunately, russian) they are bitter, depressed, fatalistic and whiney.
Esp. my wife, you are more than welcome to have the bitch, and all her neurotic russian friends.

Yeah, but yer seeing a 200 million dollar flick for ~15$, what more do you want?;-)
Of course when you have finished stripping down all the crap in XP, and whatnot, you end up with NT4, which works just fine, USB included (and I can back that statement up, NT4.0 will accept USB, you just have to have the right drivers for it and your hardware)

Tell me about it, a client of mine was just given a quote for a server and a series of thin clients (Maxspeed thin clients I believe). The cost for a server and a set of dumb terminals seemed rather high and I questioned the quote.
Turns out the licensing costs amount to nearly what a full system would.
Check this, they had to pay for the Server 2003 license AND the CAL (Client Access License) AND the Terminal Services License, like buying two licenses for each workstation!
BeOS is a *prime* example of a GUI done right. It allows you to function and doesn't hog the video card nor bog down the CPU. The default XP theme, and the latest KDE GUI is a prime example of how NOT to do a GUI.
hmmmm..that would explain why I got cable internet for years without a bill.
They had apparently merged their cable tv billing with their cable internet billing, and since I don't have a tv...no bill.
It was great until I had to move...
all the ATM machines that still use OS/2...releasing the code for a product that handles money is probably not the wisest of ideas...

It's worse than plan 9...much, much worse.

5. (Original) BeOS = Ferrari. Fast, pretty, rare.
France actually *fought* for something?!

Yeah, I knew, just after I posted it, that I'd screwed up the quote, thanks for the correction.

Twice is happenstance
Three times is Enemy Action.

You're kidding right? The name Pol Pot ring a fucking bell to you?
And before you retort, yes, he was killer of Cambodia, but those in charge of Vietnam were no less clean.
Shall we point out some of the lovely things the Viet gov't did to its *own* people?
Stones, glass houses, sin, etc.
You are *almost* correct. The time between WinME and Win2k was about 4 months, time enough for new businesses to use WinME.
Certainly established firms stayed with either Win9x line or NT, and then did the upgrade.
I had a few client businesses that used WinME. Once Win2k was available (and SP1 was out) they were switched over.
There is a simple solution when dealing with this.
Don't try to educate the users, for that is futile and will fail.
Instead, all the users to educate themselves, by presenting them with the bill for the costs of thier stupidity.
They will learn very quickly...

Windows XP Professional, retail, non-upgrade is $299.00

It's ~130$ for OEMs, which is not available to the public.

Sadly, I only had 1 or 2 great teachers.

When they said USB would not be supported for NT 4.0. They said it was non-trivial to back port the code.
And yet USB for NT 4.0 exists and works just fine (I know, I've got it running for a USB keyboard, mouse and old Canon printer.)
'nuff said.
Comparing Chrysler products to Fiat products (at least the ones available in the US when Fiat was here) is unfair.
Fiat made vastly more *interesting* cars.
Yes, Dell has some interesting drivers, along with some 3rd party firms that have made USB modules that work quite well with NT4.0
I've used USB keyboards, mice and an HP 900 series printer without issues.

Makes no sense...

hahahahahahahaahah!!!

That was great! Thanks for the laugh, I'll be laughing all day now!
