Just because you can't buy equipment elswhere at a cheaper price, doesn't mean you haven't given them a loan. Anytime you give someone money they are expected to pay back, it's a loan.
What's the point of having an evil bit if you don't do something evil with it time and again. I mean, it IS an evil bit after all, what do you expect. It's not every person who knows how to make the most of an evil bit. It's not like it's an evil byte you know, but one of those could come in handy, it's an evil bit, and you simply have to make the most of an evil bit, because it's only so much evil, hardly enough to go around, don't you know.
Linux can too run a (f)ile (s)ystem (c)hec(k) on startup from an improper shutdown. It's done it several times on my machine. it found bad nodes and fixed them. (Of course, Windows, on the other hand, doesn't want to tell you when it's found a problem)
QuickBASIC is easy to use and there's less of the problems associated with API's with it. If you don't mind the lack of legality about it, there are copies on the net. QuickBASIC
It's just that the same people who cheered when the US/UK armies rolled in, cheered when the Iraqi armies went past too. When people see a bunch of guys with guns, they either fight back or do the best to keep them happy. So it's really hard to tell whether they are happy or not. Ask them again when they are confident that they won't be seeing more armies marching past their door.

There isn't more energy coming out than put in because the "baseline energy" is the energy put in.

Why, we come up with even newer things to take care of the unforseen effect, of course. (also with their own attendant uforseen effects)
This particular fix requires calling Technical support to get. It's even in the Slashdot article!
