Just because the car is a concept doesn't mean all the little enhancements found in it will remain concepts. Lots of features found in concept cars that never make it to production often end up in production models later even if the concept car itself doesn't make it.
Tell me if the games are good in comparison to the XBox 360. That's what really is going to sway my purchase, especially given the insane pricing for both the XBox and the PS3.
Seems to me this is a red herring, designed to distract people from a much larger announcement, like say a video iPod or somesuch. iTunes on a phone? Whoopdee-fracking-doo.
I always describe 1UP as the CNet of gaming news. It strikes me as being nothing but shallow, one-sided coverage of the industry rather than anything informative or useful.
Short answer: it won't. The two systems will co-exist probably forever. RFID has applications that simple barcodes don't, and the reverse is true as well.
I have a Minidisc unit, it's a great device. But frankly the thing that killed it for me was the removable media. I agree with every single one of your points, but being able to carry around my entire music collection instead of wielding it a portion at a time was the thing that killed MD for me. I still have the unit, it's just gathering dust on a shelf somewhere.
The iPod+iTunes combination is also so dirt simple, yet flexible, that it trumps any music management software MD has/had. I can rip a CD, put my iPod in its dock, and it's ready to go five seconds later. The best part about it is the MP3s I get from it I can use anywhere, or do it to AAC and enjoy audio quality that surpasses my MD.
Some pizza places still give out those carbon swiper receipts... I usually dunk it in some water so the ink bleeds, then mash it up before tossing out.
But if you get a good shredder (one of those diagonal cross cut ones for instance) it can be a total bitch to get the stuff back together.
Me, whenever I get one of these things I either shred the bejesus out of it or store it in a secure place. I NEVER trust the trash for things like this, or even receipts from places I use my credit card. Lots of them still print the whole number on the paper.:/
I've submitted sites, and NONE of them have ever been accepted. It's not like I had a badly written summary, or the link wasn't interestng. Some editor probably looked at it and "this doesn't elevate Linux to a higher pedestal", or "this doesn't bash Microsoft as much as we'd like", and then clicked the Reject button.
The biggest problem with this site is that the people who read it do not have the control of what's submitted. If they did, instead of the editors, you'd see much more interesting and constructive content.
I considered that. However, I also have an affinity for the console style of gameplay the PSP (and the DS for that matter) affords. The fact it had all the other stuff is good, but that's just gravy to me.
I agree. You know, as much as a fan as I am for the PS2, the insane price tags of these new consoles will not have me chomping at the bit when launch day comes. And it's not just the XBox360 either. There's no way in hell I'm buying either of these consoles at the prices they're touting. So what if I end up a late adopter, at least I'll be able to make my house and car payments.
I for one think it's a great idea. It makes it so the console's capabilities can be extended beyond what they were at release. That's a GOOD thing for the longevity of the platform. It's not just new features, it can potentially introduce performance enhancements as well.
There was an interesting point made on Xplay a while back (say what you will about that show, personally I don't mind it). The point was that even though the DS has a larger game library than the PSP, the number of quality games that each platform has is roughly equal.
I own a PSP, and I know people with the DS. I'm still enjoying the games I have for my PSP, and by and large they're still enjoying their DS games. But for the most part they've ignored a lot of the games they've bought in favor of Advance Wars or Nintendogs now. Meanwhile I'm enjoying the new 2.0 firmware update and the games I bought when the unit launched, as well as some of the ones that have been released subsequently.
I prefer the PSP over the DS because of its features, not just the games.
I have a home theater, have had one for several years now. And for those years I have had a rapidly declining urge to see anything in the theaters. At home I have personalized surround, and a controllable environment. I don't get raped at the till for ticket and food prices, and I don't have to sit through a movie punctuated by annoying talkers, cell phones, and small children brought inappropriately into more mature films than they should be.
Sorry Hollywood, but I can spend my 20 Canuckbucks at Best Buy and watch the movie dozens of times, each time pitying thoe poor bastards who had to endure the theater "experience".
Because there are newer games that require specific versions and up of the different firmwares. Coded Arms, for instance, requires a 1.5x or higher or it won't run.
It is definitely a shame, yes. I'd love it if Serenity did so well that the show was picked up again (albeit by someone else other than FOX). Maybe if Sci-Fi nabbed the rights they could give it the run it deserves.
You know, I watched some episodes on the air when it first came out, and really didn't enjoy it much. Space western? I was expecting something more along the lines of Cowboy Bebop, and that it wasn't. So I didn't mourn its passing.
But recently, on a whim, I decided to nab the DVD set. It's interesting because now after watching all the episodes out, in the proper order they were meant to be, I actually really enjoy the show immensely. The characters are all well done, the acting's great, the writing is subtle and excellent, it's just generally a very well thought out series on the same level as shows like Battlestar Galactica.
So for those who might be wondering what all the hype's about, go check out the DVD set. It's not that expensive, but might be a bit tricky to find. You won't be disappointed, and it will get you set for Serenity, which looks amazing.

As opposed to the non-rank PR? :)
Perhaps this is a side-effect from his being cloned? :)

... a big Microsoft blimp constantly cutting in front of the Goodyear blimp at football games?
Slashdot is news for nerds. Nerds like games. Thus, gaming news can sometimes end up on Slashdot.
...why not make the article more useful.
:)
What site did you think you were reading?
I would hardly call being the #1 filesharing network a "gain", with the ??AA's being all lawsuity.

hahahaha, I never thought of disposing of it as toxic waste like that. :) That's a great idea.

That's funny.

Actually downgrading doesn't work. There are some homebrew downgraders, but they have a habit of bricking your PSP.
