I stopped watching when he said: "it can't be an AM/FM radio, obviously, because it's 1928"... so obviously it's a time traveler with a cell phone, that's the only logical conclusion.
The first item on the list takes the piss out of some guy for putting a HD in the freezer in an attempt to get it to work, when that is well known for sometimes working in temporarily resuscitating dead drives, if the death is due to a mechanical fault.
I didn't know there was an unofficial official freezer method. But there have been instances in the past where I've had hard drives that have started to fail from overheating and by sticking in the freezer long enough to cool them to the touch, I was able to pull the data off before total catastrophic failure.
I understand you're not supposed to stick them in the freezer long enough for them to actually freeze. I mean all mechanical equipment is rated to perform between x and y temperatures. Still, I don't see why this article thinks this is a particularly funny occurence. Surely people have down far more stupid and unique things to their compuuter equipment.
[rant on] To me the obvious question is, would we have all these security problems if MS had just concentrated on creating a stable and secure OS and left the browser in Netscape's then capable hands. In typical MS fashion they had to go and create an insecure browser that was a direct portal into their unstable and insecure OS because they have to have their hands in everything even if their first three attempts are crap and the fourth version is still crap but so much better than the previous three that everyone heralds it as a great achievement. MS likes to conveniently forget they able helped create all these problems in the first place.[rant off]
Delete 'em... and then go into the registry (make sure you back up, yada yada yada) and delete the add/remove entries. Easy as cake. Once I'm sure an update isn't going to fuck up my system, I always delete the uninstalls.
I once met a guy who was a licensed electrician. He had installed a stereo system is his car. I don't know what the specs were or even what kind of car it was, the thing that stuck in my mind about it was how nice the stereo sounded. Moreover, when he turned it all the way up it didn't distort or hurt my ears, in fact, though it was impractical to carry on a conversation, I didn't come away feeling like I had just stepped off the tarmac at the local airport. Anyway, when I commented about how loud it got, he replied, "I didn't build it to be loud; I built it to sound good." Anyway, that kind of squashed the whole louder is better argument for me.
No, Buck Rogers was much better b/c Erin Gray looked incredible (to a first-grader especially) in that tight-fitting shiny space suit. Yowee.

Why not Best Supporting Actor? Why make a special category when the actor's performance clearly inhabited the character? Neither my wife and I are big LOTR fans, we enjoy them but we don't flock to them and see them repeatedly. However, we were both completely awed by Serkis' perfomance. It was phemomenal. So why not just give him the nod and possibly reward him for an exellent job? It's just silly.
Actually, as a former smoker, nicotine has always been a problem. You buy a pack of cigarettes, you have to get twenty (unless you roll your own), you smoke all twenty before they go stale and by the time you're done, you're addicted again. However, with nicotine-free cigarettes, I could have that nice smoke after a good meal or when I'm out at the bar and I wouldn't need to worry about (1) the effects of low level nicotine poisoning and (2) becoming dependent again. Sounds like a good concept to me.
Granted Cedar Point is running out of room (being on an island and all) so they're finding ways to push the envelope, thrill the riders and still fit it in between last year's tallest and the year before's fastest but c'mon, isn't this a little ridiculous? Do I really want to wait in line behind some cellulite ridden, fanny pack wearing tourist for 20 seconds of high-g, whiplashing inducing, 120 mph fun? Hell yeah I do. But honestly, the Mean Streak, Gemini and Mantis are still the park's main attractions IMHO. They simply don't build them like they used to.

The industry claims this threatens the livelihood of everyone from artists, songwriters and manufacturers to sound engineers and record-store owners and clerks.
I feel for these people, I really do. I say we set up a Paypal account to help keep Mick, Madonna and Marshall (emineminem?) fed and clothed. Oh sure, take me to task on this but honestly, shouldn't the RIAA present better examples than pampared, multimillionaire recording artists to make their case. I mean c'mon, Mick Jagger could never sell another record in his life and still live like a king, same with Madonna. This RIAA FUD is preposterous. These people can afford to buy their records, I can't and neither can a lot of people I know, that's just the sad reality of things right now. So I'm a thief, well I guess that's just a matter of perspective isn't it?
IANAP (i am not a paleotologist) but last time I checked, raptors didn't fly. Granted my knowledge of raptors is limited to Jurrasic Park movies and BBC specials but c'mon. Regardless of whether it actually looks like a raptor it would most likely resemble a pterodactyl since it has that massive wingspan and, oh yeah, it flies.
