You are correct in some ways, but see if you can follow my bizarre circular logic:
1. CitizenX downloads a song by Pop Musician.
2. Pop Musician have sold their sold their soul to Satan in return for fame and fortune.
3. Pop Musician puts their heart and "soul" into every song they create.
4. The RIAA are a licensed agent of Satan.
5. Therefore the RIAA do in fact own the copyright of most Pop music.
At least that is how the RIAA plan on defending themselves in court.
I guess in the rest of the world outside of USA (is Canada included?) we can be live just fine...
That is where WIPO comes in.
WIPO itself does not issue patents.
It is the however, a vehicle by which patent laws can be used and abused internationally.
I, for one, would have been happier if the judge had taken the parental attitude: "If you two can't play nicely together, then you can BOTH get off the internet".
Some scientists have suggested that this level of sound may be present at some allegedly haunted sites and so cause people to have odd sensations that they attribute to a ghost -- our findings support these ideas.
"Initial customer feedback from the entertainment industry in general has been very favorable," Eades added.
Since when are the RIAA and the MPAA your major customers?
WE are your major customers, and the feedback from SlashDot so far has been "I won't be buying a MB with a Phoenix DRM BIOS".
Why is it that whenever someone disagrees with the motives of a story on SlashDot, they have go to extremes in what they perceive should be the punishment?
These guys are not doing anything too hurt Hasbro's ability to make money.
Even if they were, why should they go to jail?
I bet the Hasbro executives are quaking in their boots "Oh no, the geeks are trying to get at our super secret mini-CD codec".
>You're a geek, it's not like you were using them.
Yeah, we use them all the time...
You need something to absent-mindedly fiddle with, while your solving the worlds problems; or day-dreaming about the hot new PA your boss just hired.
ChinoH81 writes "Video games are never going to be as popular as films or music unless the people who make them concentrate on making them fun, says a leading game expert."
Never going to be as popular?
Funny that the Games Industry makes WAY more money than the Hollywood.
Where no other good solution exists, reducing my chances of crashing into a building by 50% sounds damn good to me.
That will be 50% of an already tiny number. In all history, how many planes DID NOT crash into buildings? If there was a real problem with terrorists crashing planes into buildings, I'd be all for it too. But, there isn't, and this sort of system is VERY open to abuse.
So feel free to give up your freedom, just stay the fuck away from mine.
That picture is all brown, I guess Gallileo landed in the shit.
I imagine it would act like one of those old
terminals that you connect up to a mainframe.
Basically it would just be a means for displaying data
and passing input back to the server.
There were two monkeys IN The CAGE!
...
or
"Al Gore"
If you said "Tipper Gore" you might have more agreement.
Fuck terror.
/me throws away his condoms.
Just keep posting to SlashDot, it'll have the same effect.
(i.e. you will not be getting laid)

I got exactly the same Microsoft Advert for one of their server products on both
the SlashDot page and the Newsforge page.
So, was that particular Ad placement intentional?
How can the RIAA go after children?
Aren't kids incapable of being responsible for criminal activities as defined by law?

No. Hashes are one way functions.
;)
Hence, the use of the word "Lossy".

Actually, the companies that matter are the small businesses. Who do you think the Fortune 500-size companies do business with?
;-)
From what I've seen of your country:
Mainly SENATORS and CONGRESSMEN.
Then what's an "embedded" reporter? :)
Someone who is so supportive of the current US Government,
that they can be said to be "In Bed" with them.

Yes, but the ghosts are MAKING the sounds.

Your CUSTOMERS don't want this.
You should have posted a link to the ISP's website.
Then we could've kicked a dog while it was down.
I hope you get sued and you go to jail.

You are a twonk!
Work for Hasbro, do you?
I bet they can't bunnyhop.
;-)
Yeah, let's see if they can ROCKET JUMP.
Sign them up to their own lists. ;-)
See how THEY like it.
Because using a Minigun on spammers would be like using SPEWS on spammers: too much collateral damage.

A game costs 60$. Going to the movies costs between 5$ to 15$. It's not
;-)
because you make more money that you are more popular.
Typical American attitude, change the rules of Capitalism, right after the rest of the world
starts kicking your arse.

Three little words that put paid to your disregard for Windows NT as a desktop OS: "Windows NT Workstation".
