So. Just like typical slashot, there are a bunch of drones prawling the internet looking for stories. Grabbing anything that will get their names on the front page.
Add one subscriptions service API that checks for a license before it runs anything or the program calles that API before it runs. Now it doesn't matter if you run Mono or.Net, you still need a valid MS license to work.
Patent that API and you have a huge lawsuit winnings in 5 years. I expect only 10% and my name on the patent. Just message me.:)
You would think that with all of these grievences and new patches turning off Active X by default that this should start the death of Active X all together.
Why is it still being used? what are the other choices?
Isn't it also true that Mars' core has solidified so it doesn't have a high magnetic field protecting it from solar winds? This would also ruin the atmosphere.
Linux will benifit from openSun more than hurt. Sun does not have anywhere the amount of peripherals that linux has now. But linux (if the license permits) can gain a lot about security features, this new 'self-healing' problem solving and such.
Once again I think this will be something that takes away from *NIX hold on servers not the market share that linux already has.
hopefully the BSD's will gain a lot of useful knowledge on the SPARC systems from Solaris Kernel.
I thought IBM was going to come out with a G5 based workstation. So..
I figured Sun would start using these instead of the Sparc systems. Both are 64bit and this is a way that they can move on from a (perhaps?) soon to be dead arch. the x86 solaris/linux machines are testing the waters to see how stuck on Sparc people are.
Why doesn't he write a book?
Its cheaper for him and I bet it would make just as much money.
"Ahh mercury, sweetest of the transition metals"
hehe... cute AC.
I like just advertising on /.

I just landed a great job at a C# VisualStudio shop. :D

I remember years ago I had the idea of embedding viruses in gif and jpg's. I just couldn't figure out how I would get it to execute the code.
Thanks Microsoft.

What is Xen good for, exactly? I mean I can run NetBSD, linux, linux and linux on the same machine?
Imagine a different kind of chrooted enviroment. Or imagine each user being able to have full access to a linux distro on a single machine.

So it's like setting up Auto Run.. for USB. will it require new hardware or just software reconition?
When I die, I wouldn't want any one to find my pr0n. Someone needs to create encrypted mpeg/divx.
all the passwords would be cracked in no time because they have to be easy enough to type with one hand.
HAHAH uh.

I still run 2.4. I feel more comfortable there. If there is something I want from 2.6 i just patch up. normally there isn't.
Can this be away to get around yesterdays story?
I
All I need now is the link to the Draft-Dodging HOWTO
Bush released his war records in 2002 i believe.
Wah. Don't install it on public computers. They don't need to search through files anyways.
Actually this is a pretty good idea. I could see running Mozilla/Firefox as a background service chroot'ed then you access it through the service.
Speed and security could be improved.
The only thing is it doesn't improve social exploits. Like the one mentioned.
There is a wolf in the woods with the boy. Maybe you can make a beowolf cluster.... ugh. man slashdot has rotted my brain. :D
I wonder whether MSIE 6.0 is at 1.0 yet. :) :)
MSIE stands for Might Still Include Errors. So that is another way of saying beta
Yeah everyone would be too busy figuring out the commands in emacs :D

Just my 2 cents.
Open Firefox, push ctrl+b...
that adds a sidebare with all of your bookmarks, and it is searchable
