    I remember years ago I had the idea of embedding viruses in gif and jpg's. I just couldn't figure out how I would get it to execute the code.

    Add one subscriptions service API that checks for a license before it runs anything or the program calles that API before it runs. Now it doesn't matter if you run Mono or .Net, you still need a valid MS license to work.

    Patent that API and you have a huge lawsuit winnings in 5 years. I expect only 10% and my name on the patent. Just message me. :)

    What is Xen good for, exactly? I mean I can run NetBSD, linux, linux and linux on the same machine?

    Imagine a different kind of chrooted enviroment. Or imagine each user being able to have full access to a linux distro on a single machine.

    When I die, I wouldn't want any one to find my pr0n. Someone needs to create encrypted mpeg/divx.

    Isn't it also true that Mars' core has solidified so it doesn't have a high magnetic field protecting it from solar winds? This would also ruin the atmosphere.

    Linux will benifit from openSun more than hurt. Sun does not have anywhere the amount of peripherals that linux has now. But linux (if the license permits) can gain a lot about security features, this new 'self-healing' problem solving and such.

    Once again I think this will be something that takes away from *NIX hold on servers not the market share that linux already has.

    hopefully the BSD's will gain a lot of useful knowledge on the SPARC systems from Solaris Kernel.

    Actually this is a pretty good idea. I could see running Mozilla/Firefox as a background service chroot'ed then you access it through the service.

    Speed and security could be improved.

    The only thing is it doesn't improve social exploits. Like the one mentioned.

  24. IBM Workstations on Solaris Coming to IBM's Power Architecture? · · Score: 1

    I thought IBM was going to come out with a G5 based workstation. So..

    I figured Sun would start using these instead of the Sparc systems. Both are 64bit and this is a way that they can move on from a (perhaps?) soon to be dead arch. the x86 solaris/linux machines are testing the waters to see how stuck on Sparc people are.

    Just my 2 cents.

    that adds a sidebare with all of your bookmarks, and it is searchable
