Protools Free doesn't work in OSX. Also, it only supports 8 tracks of audio, and won't work with outboard gear. It will only work through the audio in ports. That means that you can only record 2 tracks of audio at a time. I don't know all the details about Garageband's features, but from the looks of things, it beats the hell out of Protools Free.
Why would I not buy an iPod that can't hold my entire music collection? Because such a thing doesn't exist. I currently have about 65 gigs of music on my computer. I'm only about halfway through my CD collection, but I'm out of disk space.
As it stands, I have a first generation iPod (5 gigs) that has served me well. I synch up smart playlists with it frequently so I sample music that I haven't heard in a while. It's still a hell of a lot easier than carrying around CD books
Try Terrasoft Solutions. They're behind Yellow Dog Linux, and they have an OEM deal with Apple that lets them sell Apple hardware with YDL preinstalled. Yes, the machines do have OSX also installed, but it isn't the default boot system. They also offer non-Apple, Power PC hardware with YDL installed, if you don't want to also have OSX.
When I first started learning proper handwriting, the school I attended taught the Denelian system. It's essentially print, with some of the curls of cursive. In theory, this helps to better prepare students to learn cursive. bah.
My family moved to another school district that taught regular print, and I was suddenly failing my handwriting classes because I was writing my letters with curly-cues!! So, I suddenly had to re-learn how to write in print. I never really learned cursive very well, because I was still struggling with printing! Thankfully, once I reached Junior High, I was allowed to bring in typed papers instead of writing them in cursive. I've been typing since I was 5, and we were always one of the few families who actually had a computer growing up.
When we had to do essays in class, I was screwed. I was marked down all the time for my handwriting up through high school. I haven't used cursive since. For quite a while, I even printed my name instead of signing in cursive. My print is STILL horrible by most people's standards.
The ending to Conker's Bad Fur Day was amazing. It was damn near perfect in it's bittersweetness. An amazingly funny, upbeat game with an unbelievably melancholy ending.
Almost bought a Line6 amp a couple of months ago. I was looking for a good second amp (i play through a dual amp rig) because my trusty Fender Deville (along with a ton of other equipment) had been stolen out of the back of our band trailer.
I HATE digital effects, and being what in people used to call a "shoegazer" band means I use a lot of effects. I'm always tripping over stomp boxes in shows. I'm also a die hard tube amp user, but I thought I'd check out the Line6 and see what all the fuss was about. It was a good amp, and I came REAL close to buying it. Sure, you could tell that it wasn't a pure sound, but it was a GOOD sound.
I didn't buy it however (can't really afford a new amp at the moment), and had to go back to playing through 1 amp.
Has anyone played through one of Fender's Cyber-Twin's yet? It supposedly reroutes the analog signal path to achive different amp sounds instead of digitally emulating them. I haven't had the chance to play on one, and I'm wondering how they sound in application.
actually, the real trick is to keep shooting the plant as you go around and hit the mirrors. you'll stun it again before it can start knocking the mirrors down.
Exempt status is one of the absolute worst things ever invented. Especially in Arizona, where the labor laws are a joke.
Until about a month ago, I worked for an international technology provider for the hotel industry. ALL of their salaried employees are exempt, and their salaries started at about $20,000 a year. My job as a Business Support Analyst frequently required me to work overtime, sometimes working 80 hours in a week. In the month before I left, I was expected to work several 24 hour shifts, due to contracts we had made that we could not keep.
Exempt status seems to be a license for slavery. It's the reason I left the company. $24,000 a year is a laughable sum of money for the expectations that were placed upon us. Unfortunately, I'm now one of the masses of people scrambling to find work.
It will only let you download to 1 specified download folder. There's no option to "save as". This makes organizing my porn collection difficult for now.
Other than that, it's at least an enjoyable diversion. Not quite ready for prime time, but cool as hell.
Of course they're still making the 15" iMacs. They have a ton of LCD screens left over, and they're going to continue to make the iMacs with them until they run out. However... The 15" LCD screens HAVE been discontinued, just like the 17" screens will be in June.
So, the computer was made in December... how old are the parts?
why does everyone always bring up shadowrun when concepts like these are mentioned? hasn't anyone read "neuromancer"?!?!
nevermind how bad the movie sucked, but i nearly wept when i went to see "johnny mnemonic" with a friend of mine... he told me that it reminded him of shadowrun.
except that point releases are now full updates and the point point releases are the "free" ones. 10.1 was the exception to that. 10.2 is the equivalent of 10.5 if they had kept the old version numbering scheme. i don't personally have any complaints about paying for 10.2. i bought a new mac with 10.0.4 on it and got 10.1 for free. my father however just paid $130 for 10.1 3 months ago, and is now expected to pay another $130 for 10.2. sure, he doesn't have to buy it, but the principle of the thing sucks.
i'm pretty sure 10.3 will be a paid upgrade. so, is pinot 10.3? if so, it's looking like it's going to be unveiled in january. i suppose that doesn't automatically mean it's going to be RELEASED then.
ok, so here's the real question...
if they're going to be rolling out the next version of os x (pinot) in january, are we all going to be expected to pay another $130? or have they started code naming point point releases now? another full point release so soon after the 10.2 pricing fiasco is just going to leave a very, VERY bitter taste in many people's mouths.
Jason vs. Freddy has been "in the works" for years. Didn't you see the end of "Jason Goes to Hell", where Freddy pulls Jason's hockey mask down into hell?
That makes it funny!
My guess is all the Spider-Man cash will help ease his heartbreak.

Here's the link to their Apple resale site.
The keynote starts at 1 AM Pacific time...
Probably the most well known purveyors of what I would call "American Surrealism". Granted, he's modern, but Lynch's vision is distinctly American.

So damn you, Mr. Denelian!!
Definitely a game that affected me. Good call.
how many times is this EXACT post going to be made before people stop responding to it? this is an ancient troll folks... move along.
and how the hell did it get moderated informative?
VERY clever.
Legendary Christian rocker Michael Roe released an album in 1996 entitled "The Boat Ashore". Clever.

while there's no ppc downloads available on the site itself, their ftp mirors DO have 9.1 beta iso's available. the most recent being from 2/5.
check out a review of 9.1 installed on an imac at distrowatch

"Games DON'T affect kids. If PacMan did, we'd all be eating pills and listening to repeditive music... " been to any raves lately?
it would take far, far more than that...
