  1. Both DRM free and DRM'ed versions. on Double Fine Adventure Will Be Available DRM Free For IOS, Android · · Score: 1

DRM free versions will be available for Mac, PC and Linux. The game will also be made available through Steam, and the IOS App Store, etc.... which definitely have DRM. Title here (and other places) make it sound like it will be DRM free only.

  2. Apple has 2 lines of laptops on Dell Linux Details · · Score: 1

Apple also has two very distinct lines of laptops. The MacBooks, and the MacBook Pros. Each line has it's own focus market... much like Dell and their Lattitudes and Inspirons.

  3. You realize that's the same guy... on Unrefined "Musician" Gains a Global Audience · · Score: 1

Right? He's done a bunch of stuff like this.

  4. Right to left... on MDN presents 'Manglish - Manga in English' · · Score: 5, Informative

Um.... That's not backwards. I think you meant "Start on the right and move to the left."
    Just an FYI.

  5. Only one Dead or Alive that matters... on DOA Coming to the Theater Near You · · Score: 2, Insightful

D.O.A contains explicit portrayals of violence; sex; violent sex; sexual violence; clowns and violent scenes of violent excess, which are definitely not suitable for all audiences.

  6. You CAN give credit to someone on Yahoo Launches Dashboard · · Score: 1

Sure the concept of desk accessories seems obvious now, but how do you figure that credit can't be given? The idea had to start SOMEWHERE. Near as I can tell, the idea came from Bud Tribble at Apple in 1981. Somehow, I don't think the concept was nearly as obvious 25 years ago as it is now.

  7. Yaboot on The Boot Loader Showdown · · Score: 2, Funny

I use Yaboot you insensitive clod!

  8. Emusic on Web Based Rhapsody Targets Linux · · Score: 1
Funny, I was using Emusic on a Macintosh years ago. They have always been subscription music service. Oh yeah, except you actually get to keep the songs after you cancel.

Rhapsody is the first music RENTAL service available for the Macintosh.

  9. RTS as a movie? on Peter Jackson to Executive Produce Halo Movie · · Score: 1

Wasn't the original showing of Halo shown as a Myth style RTS? I don't see how that could have been "obvious" that it would one day be made into a movie. Hell, there's no way anyone could have predicted the Halo phenomenon at that point. It was just a little Mac game. I guess it was a big Mac game, with the legacy that Bungie had going for them, but it was still a Mac game.

  10. It's in the universe repository on OpenOffice 1.1.5 Released · · Score: 1

OOo 2 is included by default in the next release of Ubuntu. I am writing this from the preview release of Breezy. However, OOo 2 should be in the universe repository for Hoary. Try enabling the universe repository, and apt-get install openoffice.org2.

  11. Re:Last Disk (a tribute to *BSD) on Linux Trademark Rejected in Australia · · Score: 1, Offtopic

You know that "Last Kiss" is not a Pearl Jam song, right? It was written by Wayne Cochran, and made popular by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers in 1964.

  12. Re:Eh, what? What's that you say? Speak up!! on Is the iPod Generation Going Deaf? · · Score: 1
Yeah, before walkmen it was phonographs, and before that it was masturbation. Oh wait, that was blindness...

I would mod your comment funny, but I couldn't see it...

  13. Linux users don't have girlfriends... on Linux Five Years Away From Mainstream · · Score: 1

You sir, are an obvious liar. I would have been willing to accept that your Mom and Dad use Linux... But the girlfriend bit was a bit too much to swallow. Everyone knows that Linux users are incapable of getting girlfriends!

    Yes, there is voice chat!

  16. I'm running that box! on Ground Rules for the Windows vs. Mac War · · Score: 1

  18. It has been commanded on Converting Users to Open Source- Why Do You Care? · · Score: 1

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Stallman and of the Torvalds and of the Holy GNU, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  19. You should really read the article on High School Kids Beat MIT at Robotics Competition · · Score: 1

These kids are not "nerds" by any normal definition. They certainly were not inticed to attend Carl Hayden by its computer program. These kids are "undocumented" immigrants from Mexico. At least one of them was a former gang member.

These kids, with an $800 dollar robot and some creativity, beat out MIT's $11,000 dollar entry. The submission summary doesn't do any justice to the actual accomplishment here.

  20. Re:pics of both on Ubuntu and UserLinux to Combine? · · Score: 1

WooHoo!!! Pictures of Gnome and pictures of Gnome! I love pictures of Gnome.

  21. Re:Laptops on Why Apple Makes a One-Button Mouse · · Score: 1

Actually, I've never found a Laptop solution for Right-clicking that doesn't drive my hands absolutely crazy. Having to bend my thumb under my fingers to reach the right mouse button is just plain uncomfortable. I personally think that the Mac solution of 1 mouse button with Ctrl as the contextual button makes far more sense on laptops than having 2 mouse buttons.

  22. Re: remote access not a default on Best Wireless SSIDs You Have Seen? · · Score: 1

  23. Re:mirroring the sites on TorrentBits.org and SuprNova.org Go Dark · · Score: 1

They could just pick a name like suprnova.com, or suprnova.net!

  24. Courtney stole nothing on Musicians on Internet & Filesharing · · Score: 2, Insightful

So, I dislike Courtney as much as anyone, but this is just BS. She's telling a similar tale, but she didn't "steal" anything from Steve Albini. Albini's take on this is a classic that should be read by all thinking persons who want to develop an informed opinion on this subject. His tale is much more gloom and doom, however... The band ends up in the hole. At least in Courtney's story, the band gets $45,000 to live off of, and ends up with a $0 balance. I could tell you a personal story about ending up in debt to a record label... Does that mean I stole it from Steve Albini? Yes, I realize this is Slashdot, but it only takes a moment to think before you post.

    [sweet innocent voice]
You see, it's merely a coincidence that people happen to be able to share illegal content on top of P2P Software. And if someone were to actually do such a thing, well then it would be their mean nastry content that was illegal! It's not our fault! We just made a sweet innocent piece of P2P software and all sorts of wonderful features, there's no mean nasty illegal content inside P2P Software itself! We are all sugar and spice and everything nice!
