It's quite informative that the Mozilla site displays the results of a micro benchmark to show their competitors in a bad light after their history of memory issues. Its a worthless comparrison and anyone with profiling experience can tell you how easy it is to produce skewed micro benchmarks. At this stage everyone is aware there have been memory issues with Firefox and one silly micro benchmark does nothing to change this.

History occurred one way. It's not a relative thing. You can argue the ifs and why, but at some point you have to look at the pure documented evidence
You are overlooking the fact that history is not actually awash with verifably pure documented evidence, said documentation was written by the victor and often 'altered' to suit later generations. A lot of history is open to interpretation and best guess scenarios.

Well unless they can see through the wall of my house I can.

The video will be permanently stored, and can be used against you many years later; your entire life can be reconstructed by a supercomputer in, say, 2020 from the images taken in 2007. They are simply gathering the raw data.
So these 20 wardens alone could have collected approx 500,000 hours of video by that time. Good luck searching that. You might also want to look up Statute of Limitations. If the police want to investigate that far back on you then there is a serious reason.

I was just thinking the same thing going thru the airport yesterday. It used to be a few security personnel at the metal detectors and at least they were courteous. Now there is a legion of staff, most of whom seem to have been recruited with a 'Would you like to be a petty tyrant?' ad and who speak to you with a 'do as I say or I will fuck your day up so badly' manner because an environment has been created where what they say goes. Travelling is enough of a nuisance without these prats trying to piss you off as well.

Thats what I was thinking initially. Their Lawyers can't just come out and rip him a new one because it looks bad. Forcing a 'solution' on all their distributors is just impractical. I imagine the first response will be a nice spokesman coming out and making all the right noises about how MS are concerned about kids being exposed to violence and all the measures they take to prevent this and that because they are concerned members of society their games are not really 'violent' its just a tiny part of the gameplay and while they respect and share Mr Thompson's concerns they are currently doing everything in their power to prevent improper sales etc.

However after all the public bs I and considering that gaming and the XBox is going to make them quite a bit of money over the next few years I expect Thompson will find MS much more abrasive and confrontational should he do anything they feel is going to threaten their margins.

Should the maniacs proposing this strategy win out then we will face the even graver danger of Btacks (well Blutacks would just sound silly wouldn't it).
