NGage games were behind the times. If they were HW accelerated then there could have been some slick graphics. Compare to the handhelds like gameboy. It's not even close. Java while decent for graphics is not good enough. There is a hurdle still for that language. Mistake by Nokia to use java .
When I read this I was dumbfounded. Then I thought about it for a sec. The PS3 is all caught up in tech spec numbers. Whats most important part of a console ? The graphics card. Xbox360 wins. Sony may have the FP's. But who cares. IT's about how your game looks.
This is what pissed me off about what Sony is doing. They should have gone DUAL GRAPHICS CARD instead of trying some new vector chip like the PS2. The graphics card is what matters. Nothing else. The GPU(general) is not that important but for game logic.
Why then buy all the fiber ? There are areas of the country that aren't attractive to telcos/cable co.s.
I hope they succeed along with their WIFI access.

One more point if anyone at Google is listening. How about a tax on chip companies to use this highspeed access. It would be nice if they could help support it since they are the ones who benefit.
60 minutes recently did a show on this little girl who's impressionist art is going for thousands of dollars. They were exposed. They took a hidden camera and placed it near where she was drawing and low and behold , Dad was barking out directions on how to paint. Yeah,her dad is a painter.
Most of these kid geniuses never turn out to be what their parents were pushing them for.
I am not the biggest HD fan . I only see marginally better quality in HD. I am just wondering what rez is the one the eye really starts to get impressed by.
I have wondered why there aren't higher resolution TV's out there. It's because HDTV is the standard and I doubt we will see anything better come out. Kind of sucks.
I don't think the manufacturers will be coming out with 3000*2000pixel TVs.
Computer displays may play a key part in new display technologies. Since there is one resolution , I can see home theatre people eventually buying photoquality plasmas/lcds.
I understand they have to go through driver code very thoroughly to spot errors(overruns).
My question is couldn't they use the available drivers and put some code inbetween the kernel and driver to spot any buffer overruns and security problems.
I would rather like to see a pda with hard drive with quality camera and internal wifi. Cell-camera phones seem like gimmick than useful tools.
It would be very cool if we/gov could set up an alternative to the cellular system , like wimax/wifi phones . We would need some spectrum so I guess we can forget it.

Also don't forget StarTrek the motion picture. The original was long in spots but none of the others were as deep. The ending was great.
