  1. my messenger... on Microsoft Introduces IM Licensing · · Score: 1

i'm using trillian and i've only received one security message from them. i'm also not experiencing any problems using my msn account on trillian. when is all this supposed to go into effect and whatnot? frankly, there's enough messenger clients out there that i really don't care what microsoft wants to do with their msn. i do have an account but i pretty much use aim for all my chatting. msn or no msn, i don't really mind not being able to use their service, it sucks anyway...

  2. Re: just thinking... on Gaim Speaks Out on MSN Ban · · Score: 1

yeah, after reading a little it got me thinking about how i was on icq and irc and all that junk before aim came out... wasn't icq first? i always thought aim hit it off cause you could talk to your friends on aol for free so everyone started using it. not to mention it was much easier for the "non-computer savvy" person to use. and thinking about it, where i'm from (nyc) it is pretty much assumed here you have an aim name too. aol bought icq anyway so i guess it's not about who was here first anymore but about who's got da bills. maybe m$n will pull ahead after all?!?

yeah, and my friend and i would be rich if we were the only one's that thought of it... that's the thing, everyone has thought about it and frankly i think it's because of negative feedback sony gave the selling of the items on ebay and all that jazz... people look at the idea as "not profitable" or not catchy enough because of this. cool concept but i think it would be a while before it caught on...

  13. i think we used this weapon on the BBC because... on U.S. Air Force Developing Microwave Weapon · · Score: 2, Interesting

"is being developed by the US Air Force according to this BBC News article."

well according to TIME magazine theses weapons have apparently already been developed and plan on being used in iraq. there was a little article in the recent issue about them titled "america's ultra-secret weapon". frankly if this is considered ultra-secret i'd hate to see what they consider double-ultra-secret!

  14. like i said before... on Australian Gov't Lobbied To Implement Media Levies · · Score: 1

as a human living in a modern society i expect to give a percentage of my money for the "greater cause". be it federal taxes to protect me, my health, my family or small levy's to protect an artist's right to make music for a living. i don't mind paying taxes as long as how much they want and what they want it for stays within certain guidelines. i mean i'm sure there's a lot of things out there that my money has gone towards that i wouldn't normally support but to quote a little melody from the 80's, "you take the good, you take the bad, you take em' all and there you have, the facts of life" (i was partial to "jo" in the early years). either way it is ridiculous to make people pay for a "service" they could very well not be using. i just don't get how these agency's claim to be so inclined to protect the artist yet from what i've read the artist doesn't ever see any of this money as they very well should. i am a musician and all i know is that if i were to start a band i wouldn't see any of these dollars. i am aware that money can be spent to further protect copyrights therefore keeping the musician employed but the technique, i feel is all wrong. you don't make people pay for something that they don't use (blank cd-r for data recording, not audio). copyrights may not be honored as far as any p2p user is concerned but from an artists perspective it really isn't fair. create a system in which audio cd's (or whatever the format may be) can only support audio files and cd's for other purposes do not support audio. this way you levy the audio, protect the copyright and keep people from using the blank media from having to pay that extra penny. an idea that may seem farfetched but maybe in a new medium other than cd this can be done.

  16. Re:Are you kidding me? on Review Of Upcoming Projection Keyboards · · Score: 1

well i don't really see how you would block the display. i mean my hand would be nowhere close to blocking the projector so that can't be an issue... although i too at times find myself scrambling for keys but your hands would block out just as much of the projected keys from the eye as a typical keyboard. so i don't see a problem there...
"The keyboard picks up finger movements and triangulates them into a keystroke with a great degree of accuracy"
what i have yet to read is how it DETECTS (triangulates) a key stroke. i mean if my finger blocks a key but doesn't "press" it what happens? also what happens when you hold a key down? i really don't see these things making it but i guess you never know...
