You must be crazy for calling Eminem a 'retard' for suing Apple over this...
He's not suing the little girl who sang his song, he's suing the corporation who used it for monetary gain without clearing it with him, or his legal team.
If I want to sing/hum/rap one of Eminem's tunes, that's good for me... If Apple's marketing team decides to hire me (or some cute child who will appeal to demographics) to do the same in a commercial for their product... Well, they had best clear the legal rights beforehand...
Site loaded fine in Opera 7.11 on my Wintel w/ DSL, the fact that your 'browser locked up' is probably more due to the fact that you're running Netscape than it is your system specs.
Americans aren't stupid... They're *typically* ignornant. Most other countries' citizens are as well, but the US are the infamous example.
The fact that you find Hungary on a map doesn't prove you knew where it was, it proves you can look around a map and find a country labelled 'Hungary'. Let's see you do it on a map that ISN'T labelled
People who get insulted because of a statistic that claims 90% of their country's population are 'stupid', are stupid.
Nobody said you were in that 90% buddy, calm down and take a valium.
"Is anyone else as sick to death as I am about hearing how amazing Gollum was, how he should have won an academy award, been knighted by the Queen, been elected supreme ruler of Earth, etc.?"
Amen!!
The Gollum 'dialog' with himself was kind of entertaining, the rest I thought was lackluster at best...
Be damned sure of the people who going to walk-out with you...
I was in a similar situation myself, and while the department I was in was small (there were only 3 of us) when the time came to walk, I was the only one with the balls to leave...
End result, I ended up quitting (and going back to school, which wasn't a major mistake, but I'm yet to find a decent job) the other 2 ended up getting raises for staying...
Maybe your work is a bit more old fashioned than mine, but some chick sitting in her underwear (not entirely revealing underwear, I might add) Isn't really something many people would freak out over:P
AOL is a stinking piece of offal... Though no-one on/. will agree with me, MS is the lesser of two evils... AOL/Time-Warner is a 500 lb. gorilla who has just been awakened... They have a megapoly, and people are still whining about the 'alleged' MS monopoly...
Sure, comparing MS and AOL is like comparing Ghengis Khan to Hitler, but AOL has caused more problems for me than MS has ever thought of causing... I guess it comes down to the devil you know vs. the devil you don't...
It's easy enough to decide not to use MS software/hardware... It's not so easy to turn your back on the largest player in the media, regardless of format (Movies, TV, print, etc...)
This is very funny, but also more than likely quite true that a large portion of the servers affected were probably using unlicensed versions of the software:P
Strangely enough, I have run windows and Soundblaster cards since either have been available, and have never had a problem with the drivers...
SB16 on Win 3.1x & Win9x
SB Live on Win9x/2k/XP
SB Audigy2 on Win2k/XP
I'm not sure why Creative has been getting so much bad press about their drivers... What problems have people been experiencing?
Unfortunately, I have been having a few problems getting the Audigy2 working in BeOS or Linux, heh:) (before someone points me to the link for the audigy drivers, the problem is I don't have internet at home)
A Canadian comedian once said that the US could never defeat Canada in a war, mainly because they have no idea where our cities are...
Sadly enough, this may be the only reason we remain a distinct and separate country from the US:P
Maybe you didn't see in the article (most likely because you didn't bother to RTFA) where he says he SUPPORTS the Army, and National Defense...
He just doesn't agree with the loss of Iraqi/US soldiers for the cause of Oil, er... Weapons of Mass Destruction!!
You calling this guy a moron is quite ironic...
"There has also been megawumpus improvements int the text tool."
;)
But apparently not megawumpus improvements in spelling/typing

My 2 cents...
'It's virtually impossible on many levels,'
If something is 'virtually impossible', let's just say that it is 'possible'
No, because Linux and Unix do NOT, in fact, sound similar...

Didn't Peter Jackson direct Return of the King? heh heh
And remember, he was in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back too!! :P
Last time I checked, it didn't take any space on my hard drive to READ a file...
I'd think AOL Canada would be the AOL of 'the great white north'
*grin*
Lets see your Buick make it to the moon on a tank of gas ;)
To paraphrase Linux, "You're smoking crack".
How exactly does one paraphrase an OS?
Yeah, and funnier still, how many open source products do those same companies produce?
Well you can pay Microsoft today for windows, or you can wait and pay SCO tomorrow for Linux ;)
I don't know what flavor of Windows they run in the office you work at, but I'm yet to see a WinNT/2k/XP crash at my office, with over 500 systems.
Application crashes, yes. Operating system failures, no.

Hopefully this will make companies realize that the Internet isn't comprised of just IE users.
/. will recognize the internet is comprised primarily of non-geeks.
And then maybe
