I dont see how '{' is uppercase and '[' is lowercase. Unless you mean that there is another, smaller version of '['? What's the key combo / unicode for that?;)
~ is the unary negation operator, for example, although I dunno of you can even really call it an operator in ML.
Wait a minute. Isn't the unary negation operator in c ~ also? I don't understand your point.
I have to argue against this... I play a *ton* of gorey, realistic first person shooters (35 hours a week?), and I am still sensitive to violence. I close my eyes during senseless violence like the scene in trainspotting where what's-his-name throws a beer mug over the balcony so it hurts someone just to start a fight. The difference is.. shooting someone in counter-strike has a purpose (defusing the bomb! saving hostages!), and senseless violence is well.. senseless. It's not like in (many) video games you are rewarded for violently killing innocents. Besides, none of the gore in any (popular) video game compares to real life. Violent tv shows and movies desensitize much more... I just dont see this argument working.
As for the military using video games, your logic doesnt really work. Havent troops been desensitized through other means for more than... well since we had militaries? Im sure the roman armies were just protecting the empire + glory of rome or some sort. The troops today also have some similar motivation to get over thier disgust at destroying human life.
please god. i wish i could get almost anything other than the crap that they show on tv in america (few exceptions for discovery channels, cartoon network etc). except, i'm glad i dont get any british channels;)
there are many websites where you can buy $20 covers for your license plates so that they cant be seen at more than ~20Â above horizontal, or something like that. so that cameras on top of poles cant see them, but cops can.
badges really do keep people out pretty well. at the CPL last year this guy was like "let me borrow your badge for 10 minutes while youre eating"... why you ask? so he could go around and steal ram, mice, headphones, keyboards and mousepads. keep in mind gamers are known to spend 80 dollars on an illuminated keyboard and such.
That is one of the few episodes I saw.. and I can really relate. It is a pretty big problem although when youre playing you dont realize it. In 14 months I spent 120 days (ex: play for 24 hours over the course of a week and thats one day played) playing 1 character on EverQuest. It was pretty easy to just say Im done and stop but it's still affecting me. Anyone have a link to any good quanatative studies on long-term sleep debt? Im afraid I'm still working mine off.
IANA gui programmer but I saw some c once that would watch internet explorer's status bar and print what was there to console if it changed, through some win32 stuff I dont know about. Does OSX not have a similar thing? ex: rewrite audio hijack to save a file each time the song field changed in iTunes?
They made a little RC car that can go like ~80 mph when launched from a cruiser that runs under the car with a trolley like thing sticking out of the top with plenty of voltage. IIRC this was on TLC a few days ago
The problem is how detailed must the logs be? If I track the latency for every player for the entire time they are logged on.. or even when they start losing connection, logs will be huge. There are also hard-to-duplicate client side bugs that could cause it also. Its difficult to make accountability for bugs, lag, etc. All the time in EQ I would just/petition the server lagged out and I fell down a cliff! or 3 giants pathed to the middle of thuradgin, wtf!
haha at my school a group of kids took a trip to new york and some guys mom got conned into buying a pirated hk dvd for full price. now she is making copies on her computer and giving them to any kid who asks.
Well companies that host thier own mail servers and the like ussually dont get that much spam, but there are a lot of yahoo and hotmail accounts (sigh, I have one too) that *ALL* get 7-8 times as much spam as regular mail. If youre wondering what I mean by all... set up a hotmail account with gibberish (no dictionary words) as the name. Dont use it for anything. It only takes 2-3 days to get your first piece of spam. Ive done it 9 or 10 times and the longest it took was 5 days til first spam, and that was longest by far.

"Advise him to erase it, or at least encrypt it and transfer it to his home computer."
