Yeah I fucking hate my school district. They spent a 13 million on a new football stadium and 3 or 4 million on a swimming pool. So now the computer science and academic teams get $0 for competitions even though we have won state cs for the past 3 years. Teacher salaries suck here and like half of my books are falling apart but nooo. Thank god im graduating. Anyone want to help me choose between colorado school of mines and georgia tech? email me ^.^
I dont mind trigun that much although there are at least 10 series at are staggeringly better. What I hate is now that cmdrTaco recommended excel saga (which is utter crap) a bunch of people are going to think highly of it.
Well the whole point in the change is that schools shifted their focus more to academics. The theory is people dont learn if they are threatened / anticipating physical violence between classes. I agree with you though: my parents tried to make me go to a phychiatrist to get me to quit everquest and I said fuck that quit on my own and got a job. I dont know if the raising a kid in the real world (tough kid) school and the ideal learning enviroment can meet anywhere in the middle. Although at my highschool everything gets punished severly and we do pretty well on standardized tests and such. I personally like my school but that may be because I dont do drugs drink that much or beat people up:)
Ive lost over 75 gigs of anime twice, but the worse loss was a small one. A new ep had just come out of Hikaru no Go and I was visiting relatives downloading it on my grandparents 56k. When the file gets to around 95% and windows crashes. =( Keep in mind these are around 200 mb each.
my highschool uses windows everywhere and does a horrible job with the network (netware without using zen, which they have licenses for). Ive been in computer science for 3 years and instead of dealing with turbo c++ 4.5 and codewarrior I brought in cygwin and started using g++ for the projects and such. People started seeing the benefits of crazy stuff like 32bit integers and the STL so now we at least use Visual. My teaher was suprisingly receptive to linux though, he is letting me do linux from scratch for a project now (so I can know more about it, not that I need a specialized distro or anything)
Ive tested something similar to this. Make a hotmail account with jibberish (rand(), 8 char isalnum() strings is what I used) for the name and see how long it takes to get spam. Out of ten tries my average was about 3 days.
I know for a fact that they hold go program tournaments. If you google for aya, youll find a go program that competes in those and comes with some sample games
I got 140 days played in 12 months, then made a clean break; this is what I suggest (what i did):
1. find some good books to occupy your soon to be found free time.
2. convince yourself youre not uber enough (never going to be)
3. level tredmills ARE A WASTE OF TIME
4. give someone (in your guild) your account, have them change the password
5. uninstall eq
6. delete the folders
7. format hdd
8. give friend or parent computer until its safe again
9. read the books, play some of your favorite old console rpgs, etc
10. when you stop having dreams about eq, and stop thinking about it at work / school, ask for your computer back.
11. install linux, and dont install windows until you realize that other games are more fun than eq.
12. done (I had to make it a 12 step program didnt I?)
I still read forums / funny guild sites some, and still have the urge to play (I got addicted to caffine while playing eq too so that might not help). BUT I took up Go, rock climbing, and counter strike instead, so when I think of stopping all 3 of those, I decide not to play again.
Theres a new station in dallas that Im pretty sure isnt owned by clear channel. KKDL started in october or november by playing 30,000 songs in a row without commercials, now they have like a minute of commercials an hour. Its a dance station (106.7) and I can never find the website.
I like it a LOT more than anything else on the radio down here.
I was considering something of the same, only I was thinking of using it for a digital camera. Make my camera half inch thicker but several orders of magnitude more pictures.
I didnt really research on doing it myself, more of thinking why hp/canon/etc dont do this already.
I was on eq for about 14 months and had 130 days played between two level 60 characters. I got off it too but without any 12 step program or anything. My parents decided I needed to stop playing so they cut off my broadband and broke my old 56k modem in half and said I wouldnt get it back until I got a job (I am 16). Between school and the job it wasnt worth playing any more, I would get home at like 11pm and only 2 hours of raiding with my guild until they all went to sleep.
No, he is saying teach them to install linux, but dont leave out the partitioning part where you can leave windows on a system, not that you HAVE to have windows to start.
I dont know, I grew up in win95/98 and switched to linux when I was about 15 and I use the shell heavily because its so useful. Even though they start off with gui, if you teach them how to do things with a shell thye probably will end up doing it the fastest way out of the two
Yes but the first ones wont ship with an agp slot :( I know arima and MSI have retail boards (soon?) availible.
look here, about halfway down
I like it ^.^

I think he means edu's filtering/throttling http packets fastest, gaming/p2p packets slower/blocked.

you pay LINUX 30 bucks to run YOU
