And it seems no sacrifice is too great as Kiribati is one of the few nations to back the Japanese in their 'research' whaling. You've seen Whales Wars, The Cove. This, an excerpt from Silence is Betrayal at blogspot: On June 13th (2010), the Sunday Times reported they had uncovered proof of Japan bribing nations for votes on ending the commercial whaling moratorium that has been in place for 24 years. Two undercover reporters posed as lobbyists for a fake billionaire who wanted to prevent the moratorium from being overturned. They offered £25m in aid over 10 years to six nations: St Kitts and Nevis, the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Grenada, Ivory Coast and Guinea, in return for a vote against the whaling quotas at the Morocco meeting. They indicated they were willing to consider the offer.

These I would suggest come with no warranty or official support as they have been modified outside Apple specs. You'd hafta be keen !

  5. tmpgenc might be what you need. on Understanding DVD Compression? · · Score: 1

I've been recording F1 Grand Prix (and movies etc) digitally through a Canon DVD camcorder that has an analog to digital pass through mode. This gets captured on a Sony Vaio laptop (with firewire in) using the free WinDV.exe. I then edit as required using Adobe Premiere, then encode the resulting DV avi file to MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc. I usually encode using 2 pass VBR, and with this method I can get a quality result. The maximum video length for decent quality is around 2 hours for a 4.7Gb DVD. You can get more with a lower bitrate, but I find 2 hours is the effective limit (for me at least). Your 90 min video should look great using this method and with a higher bitrate. TMPGEnc does cost for the MPEG-2 codec. (or not if you look around) :) Try it.. you'll like it, and I've never had a crash from encoding using TMPGEnc. With 6-10 hours required to encode a 2 hour video, thats important.

But you may not be as happy to see that quality picture on a sports illustrated double spread for instance.
People still use film because there is still an issue with the merits of film/CCD/CMOS. Until film is well and truely surpassed by digital, expect to see the megapixels get.. uhhh . mega'rer.
I've recently got into SLR digital with a 10D. Along with that I got some 'L' series lenses, and I would expect my picture quality will steadily improve as the pixels go up. I'm looking forward to it.
What? Do you enjoy being able to clearly see an ant from taking a picture with your camera 12 feet above an ant mound?

Where is the information that backs the headline that suggests piracy boosts sales in NZ ? Nowhere, not in that article at least !! I download music off the internet, and I often go and buy the music I like, the legitimate way. If your wanting to get some Salmonella Dub, Concord Dawn, Scribe, Goldenhorse, the Feelers, 8 Foot Sativa (check them all out!!), you won't find them on Kazza or other popular international p2p sites because the vast majority (not many, if any :) ) of 'kazza' type users (US, Euro d/l'ers) haven't heard NZ music, so the material is just not available on these sharing networks. If NZ music was internationally popular this may change considerably. Having said that, NZ is producing some of the best tunes I've heard out of here for years... and its only the rest of the world is missing out.. !

Certainly not new from my perspective either. Altho my momory dosen't go back to '76, In '85 or so it was (and still is) a fun (and sometimes very serious) pastime among street rodders. The bar stool races I first saw were held as part of the New Zealand Hot Rod Summer Nationals in Hamilton, NZ. I even got photos if anyones keen. The one that sparked my attention was a lovely made bar stool with a Honda CB550 engine. these were all made to the regulations of having a standard 'bar stool' track (and wheelbase) of around 20 inches, not these wide track models seen at barstool....com. I have heard rumour that shortly after Richard Pearse claimed the first powered flight by man (before the Wright's), he used a powered bar stool as transit to the nearest pub.
