    While I agree with your general premise that 3D doesn't really work because your eye & brain know that the "3D", well, isn't, the main problem with Avatar, IMHO, was that it was an unfathomably shitty story. Three-dimensional images, one-dimensional characters.

    You're probably right. I bought a MacBook last year (having used Debian for the last 9 years), and while I don't dislike it, I'm not keen to buy more Apple products given dumb shenanigans like this. So they are alienating some users.

    Uhh, we're all in awe of your vast knowledge and tremble at the merest thought of your wondrous awesomeness, but (presumably) you didn't have power applied to the boards you were soldering. Bridging a few pins to power or ground rails with some not-entirely pure water can and does damage ASICs. Why are you being so smug about it, anyway?

    Survived no problem. I later noticed that only 1 of the 5 chassis screws was still in place and never bothered to fix it. Ran for months afterward and I eventually bought an HTC Magic.

    Have to disagree with you there.

    I understand what you're getting at - there's a tendency amonst liberals - as I am admittedly these days - to root for the underdog.

    I'd agree with you if you said anti-Israeli - but I have a problem with equating questioning Israel's policies with being anti-semitic. It smacks of rhetoric when Jewish folk who do so are branded, because anti-Semitic doesn't really make sense - as self-hating Jews.

    A very important question.

    A coworker of mine uses an indicator he calls the "bus factor" to determine the likelihood of discontinued support for a particular tool or library.

    The "bus factor" is simply defined as "the number of people who have to be hit by a bus before the fundamental understanding of the underlying codebase is lost."
