Who cares?
How does Google's leveraging off Java deprive Sun revenue from its R&D? You know, like what patents are intended for?
Fucking lawyers. Unable to create any real value themselves, they resort to contriving some for themselves by destroying it for many others. Utterly, utterly ignoble profession.
I vaguely remember a meme - before we called 'em that - going around the net about how lots of Mexican immigrants were crossing the border and taking programming jobs, so they were coming with a new Spanish C language specification...

While I agree with your general premise that 3D doesn't really work because your eye & brain know that the "3D", well, isn't, the main problem with Avatar, IMHO, was that it was an unfathomably shitty story. Three-dimensional images, one-dimensional characters.
You're probably right.
I bought a MacBook last year (having used Debian for the last 9 years), and while I don't dislike it, I'm not keen to buy more Apple products given dumb shenanigans like this.
So they are alienating some users.
Uhh, we're all in awe of your vast knowledge and tremble at the merest thought of your wondrous awesomeness, but (presumably) you didn't have power applied to the boards you were soldering. Bridging a few pins to power or ground rails with some not-entirely pure water can and does damage ASICs.
Why are you being so smug about it, anyway?
Survived no problem. I later noticed that only 1 of the 5 chassis screws was still in place and never bothered to fix it. Ran for months afterward and I eventually bought an HTC Magic.
Agreed - I've never understood why "counting cards" is this awful, evil thing that people do and it's despicable and immoral and bad and we'll kick you out.
If someone's able to use their ability to their advantage, why the hell wouldn't they?
I'd heartily recommend Adam Cadre's "Photopia". It's one of the most affecting pieces of fiction of any time I've ever read.

I understand what you're getting at - there's a tendency amonst liberals - as I am admittedly these days - to root for the underdog.
I'd agree with you if you said anti-Israeli - but I have a problem with equating questioning Israel's policies with being anti-semitic. It smacks of rhetoric when Jewish folk who do so are branded, because anti-Semitic doesn't really make sense - as self-hating Jews.
Ya know like... say... Einstein.

A coworker of mine uses an indicator he calls the "bus factor" to determine the likelihood of discontinued support for a particular tool or library.
The "bus factor" is simply defined as "the number of people who have to be hit by a bus before the fundamental understanding of the underlying codebase is lost."
Apple and the guy who designed the logo have stated that it was not a tribute to Turing.

Mix memes much?

... it should be good enough for anyone. Just sayin'...

WiliLeaks? Really?
Every time I see the word crowdsourcing, I read it as crowdsurfing. I, for one, try to avoid being near anywhere that RMS is crowdsurfing.

I think this is called pissing in the well from which you drink. I really don't get why Apple is trying so hard to alienate developers. / Android user

Meh.
Whatever happened to that bird who dropped a baguette into the reactor and caused a zillion dollars of damage?

And now all my porn's upside down.

I've written a fair bit myself.
A very important question.
