Having land to stand on isn't the problem. The problem is resources. People need food, water, fuel, electricity, building materials, plastic and metal for their toys, etc. For various values of need. I mean, people really need food, water and clothing/shelter (or some other protections from the elements and predators), but I don't believe that plastic, metal or toys are essential. Even stored energy for heat and cooking aren't required to survive in a moderate climate.
Having said that; you can pry my interwebs from my cold, dead fingers.
While I grew up with a soldering iron, inventing stuff and hacking hardware projects; I'm primarily a software guy. I find Practical Electronics for Inventors to be an excellent resource for the kind of projects you're looking into. Also you might consider getting yourself either an ATSTK500, the starter-kit for AVR micro-controllers (great tool IMO), OR a LEGO NXT.
I'm not surprised that someone misspelled "bumcombe." I'm surprised that anyone today even used the word in the first place. I still hear the forms bunk and de-bunk relatively frequently. Also to GP, both wiki and MW think the main form is bunkum, though the etymology is buncombe.
I think adding soft background music would do the trick. For instance if you used Britney Spears That would be unfair discrimination against the visually impaired.
CAPTCHAs are bunk anyway due to the oft-suggested relay attack.
ECMAScript is actually pretty cool, it also supports functional, imperative and object-oriented paradigms and doesn't afraid of anything.
I'm trying to work out the best way to use it on the server-side. I'll probably look into one of the combinations of SpiderMonkey & Apache, mod_js perhaps.
You're right in that you could be spending your free time helping an existing project, however the experience you gain from attempting these kinds of exercise will make you a more valuable contributor in the future. Also, you should always follow your heart, that is the way to success.
Maybe the big bad penguin TUX will be the evil genius that is trying to lure potential windows developers away, and the new "superheroes" will rally to their aid. I don't think the raid is going so well.
The people who drop out of college, and even high school - and are proud of that fact! I'm proud of that fact that I dropped out of high school and have become successful and well educated on my own; I just didn't fit in. I don't feel that my opinion matters more than anyone else's does though.
Do we understand the world entirely metaphorically?
AFAIK we do.
Like we have a VR running in our brains that simulates our beliefs about the world. Our experience is purely a complex abstract model.
Interestingly a lot of respondents say they don't experience this. I concur with a sibling that it is related to empathy and note that geeks have a tendency to ASC which in turn is associated with a lack of empathy.
In response to the GGP, I always felt like I was an extension of the computer, i.e./dev/monkey.
Wherever you got your opinion, you should return it for a refund. Must give me a T-shirt with this slogan, please.
Yes, the creator creates for themselves, but (as much as they'll deny it) they need to be able to move pieces off galley walls and will make works that appeal to the audience while still maintaining their integrity as an artist. Yes, because the slaves have such a high disposable income. JK

Someone already made a Jesus font, maybe you cound draw some inspiration from that.
Cheers
Happy hacking!
I couldn't find a way of advertising on PHB.com, but who could take these guys seriously.

at Japanese the beard grows well
Also you guys are wasting characters, e.g. #cc0
Oh, and caps glyphs use up more pixels, too.
I wonder if Enoch Root will be in this one...
I expect him and one or more Shaftoes and Waterhousen.Maybe they're just pissed that Microsoft forgot Poland.

Only the lawyers win.
See my post back a few branches.
Allow my robot to explain through interpretive dance.
I'm surprised that word combination has a single (other) Google hit
You can dry it later.
AFAIK we do.
