It has a lot to do with what I'm searching for though. For instance, if I'm screwing off by typing a (not famous) person's name / handle into Google, I'll go far deeper because the pages at the front will just be the site that the person visits which also happen to be popular on a wide scale. Often the juicier bits are in the 'fringe' sites that won't see the first page of Google results. Also, some search topics will repeatedly bring up an item you don't want, no matter how you phrase it or pick keywords (or use NOT flags etc.), so you have to dig deep. Still, I can't say I find the results surprising...after all, I set Google to display 100 results per page, so when I look at page 2 it's what most folks would see on page 20.;)
"how can fight something like that?" discussions going on that night.
I can think of several ways off the top of my head. 1) Semi- / Pseudo-Random flight pattern. Sure, it's going more or less in a line from whatever shot it to the tank, but it can bob and weave a hell of a lot - enough to throw off even a very advanced targeting system - on the way there. It's not like every tank is going to have a supercomputer installed in it somewhere for aiming, and a satellite / radio / IR / whatever system that relays to a big computer 'back at the base' would have too much lag to be effective. 2) The thing only covers one hemisphere of the tank. Design rockets that fly past the target, turn around, and whack it in the ass. Shoot another rocket at the front simultaneously, so it can't just swivel back and forth. 3) Splitting projectiles. A single rocket or whatever that splits when fired, or firing several projectiles at once. 4) Spoofing. Put small explosives on the outside of the rocket which, a second or so after it is fired, begin to fire one at a time. Or pressurized capsules that are opened / ruptured / whatever. Load each one with a bunch of iron dust. Anything to get the defense system to shoot at air. All of these ideas could be implemented very cheaply and with little tech. This is has lots of cool factor, but in the end it simply won't work, and I didn't even get into subjects such as mines, extremely slow-moving targets, etc.
We can't help it if you ask for the technical reasons and then you completely fail to understand when we explain them to you.
Get that shit in writing! Roughly half the time that you explain, on a technical level, why something won't work and the other person clearly fails to understand, they will attempt to justify moving forward with it. They would not have asked you about it if they didn't already feel like it was a good idea. In fact, in some ways, they may feel that not moving forward is, in a way, admitting that they were wrong or being stupid about something. When that happens, you -must- find out who is involved, email all of them, and use that little 'notify me when this message is read' feature. Keep all the evidence. Pass out hard-copy memos. Don't over-do it, just a little, "Hey, John asked me about the technical feasibility of _____. After speaking with him and having time for my thoughts on the issue to settle, I thought I'd send you all a more thorough and coherent outline of why I think this won't work." (Don't actually bold that last.) Why? Because you -know- that when they do go through with it and it all fails miserably, it's going to come back on you to some degree. It failed, and you, who should have known that it wouldn't work, were involved at an advisory level. Just a little C.Y.A. from a guy who's been there, done that, and got out alive, thanks to a healthy dose of paranoia.
In a perfect, hypothetical universe of infinite size which contained only those two black holes, and if both were far enough apart that you and your ship could be centered between them without being close enough to either black hole for the gravity to tear you / your ship apart, yes, maybe you could maintain a central position. Given those two, there's the third problem of movement...The two black holes will be in motion, and it while you may be able to calculate where the 'safe spot' will be at a given instant, you probably will not be able to get there, calculate the next safe spot, get there, etc. Unfortunately, the first 'if' fails immediately. You would not only have to center yourself on the two gravitational pulls from the black holes, but also on the gravitational pull of every other entity in the universe, because they will all tug on you a little bit. The second 'if' is a matter of random chance, but considering the size of the universe, might be considered probable. The third issue, movement, is a certainty, and it's just a question of 'how much?', but any way you look at it, it complicates things far too much.
Too bad it's still ugly. Not to mention, expensive as hell or not, it's not 'fad'-y enough for anybody rich enough to want one to actually get one. 'A' for effort, tho...
Good God. You mean to say I heard about this from a dang preview in the movie theater in my butt-funk teeny 10k population town that never gets movies within a week of everywhere else before/. got the word? Wow. Come -on-.
My system: ATI X550/X600 PCI-X, AMD 64 3500+, 512MB. Runs the game at a medium / low video configuration with occasional but only slight slowdowns, although it does lose stability after a couple hours (but after Morrowind, I call that an improvement...)
You miss the point. Of course posts are usually opinions. The issue is that he begins his post by stating that another person's -opinion- is a "myth". If you are going to claim that a matter of opinion is in fact a falsehood, it follows that you should prove your claim and disprove the other using -facts-, not more opinion. There is a -world- of difference between, for instance, "I think Christianity is better than Islam because..." and "Christianity is a myth, Islam is the truth." I take issue with the post because they clearly don't acknowledge that difference. IOW, they're the "my opinion is the only correct opinion" type.
Betamax was NOT superior This is a persistent myth that has gone on for decades
but it was certainly not a superior format, at least IMHO
(Emphasis Mine) I just want you to know how much I appreciate that you blatantly contradicted yourself within 3 sentences (counting the title.) It saves so much reading when fools make the effort to out themselves early, and I applaud you for the courtesy.
...looking at the poll, it would appear that the largest group is the 18-23 age group. Young adults.
Also, Gamefaq's is essentially a cheat / walkthrough site. I'm 22, and I know that I, as well as my friends, have come to use cheats less and less the older we've become.
I seem to recall the term 'superhero' being tossed around left and right by the media after 9/11 in reference to various emergency workers. Where was the legal order on that?
On a different note...what is the trademark -actually- on? 'Superhero' / 'Super-hero' / 'Super Hero'? Does capitalization matter?
Yanno what? From now on, let's just keep a handy supply of large trout on hand, and use them to beat anyone who uses the phrase 'iPod killer' to death.
I think you misinterpreted that preview, and horribly at that. Just off the top of my head, the main focus of the 'exploding stuff' shot wasn't the explosion. It was the character not flinching. After seeing the preview for the first time, my best friend and I both added it to our lists of 'must-see' movies, knowing - just from seeing the preview which you so horribly misunderstood - that it was going to be Desert Storm's answer to Vietnam's "Full Metal Jacket." Whether it met the challenge is up for debate, but I digress...
...you may not read, copy, distribute, or use this information.
[Emphasis Mine]
Uh-oh, now you're going to jail. And me to, I guess. Oh well.
In an interesting twist of English interpretation, couldn't it be said that acknowledging and abiding by the sentence in whole or in part would be a violation of the 'or use' statement, thus nullifying the whole thing?
Actually, the books in Morrowind can be quite entertaining. And if you're too lazy to hunt down all the parts of a series, you can always just open up the construction set and copy the text from there into your favorite editor (though I personally was obsessive about collecting things every time I played Morrowind.)
Or, if even that is too much effort, this is a good site with the text of most / all books from the game available for your browsing pleasure.
'The Wolf Queen' is probably my favorite series from the game.
Hey now, Toxic Avenger movies were some of my favorites when I was a kid. I even had the (practically unbeatable) video game. It's one of the funniest spoof-action / horror / superhero series ever, IMHO.
What about KDE? icewm? XFce? Blackbox? KDE at the very minimum, I would think, was a significant oversight. And why FreeBSD? 'L' is for 'Linux'. It's not 'BAMP'. But so long as they were gonna test BSD, why not OpenBSD, the one that can't speak 3 sentences without yelling mentioning how secure it is? It's awesome to see the government do something like this, but I just have to wonder what their justification was for some of the things they picked.
Actually, I had a friend have the same problems. It was something in the mobo drivers IIRC...you don't by chance have a GigaByte board, do ya?

What, exactly, is JBoss?

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two fonts.
That might work, but only if they include a free iPod as well.

15min. and no replies yet? Looks to me like Ubi did the right thing.
RTFA. Oklahoma. Idiot.

Anybody notice that the game rules / cards seem to randomly use 'lose' and 'loose'?

Haven't I already played this? On the bright side, though, I -loved- EVO, so Spore should be quite enjoyable as well.
