    but only one has done this in your sample, and there are other things to consider. He had a Republican congress. But then again GW Bush had a Republican congress for the most part. I just don't think there will be that much difference this time. Both Obama and McCain are trying to pitch themselves as regular guys but they are not.

    BTW, I think only one president has ever balanced the budget (Andrew Jackson).

    I think that hits it dead on the head. I think everyone should just write in "none of the above" for who they want to vote for so we can get a couple of different choices to make.

    Yes, those concrete barriers narrow the road and 75 to 55 gives you a 26.66% better chance to react.

    Yea, I know the Indians are good laid back people. I talk to them all the time on the phone telling me not to worry about anything. They even fixed one of my problems in another life, reality, or something.

    Where I work they pay benefits to the one working there not the dependents. If you want that you have dependents on the policy you have to pay it in full. I realize that it is still a group policy but most dependents are going to be younger and bring the total expenses down. Younger people cost less. Dependents tend to be younger. I fail to see your logic unless the company throws in a little money for anything past 1, but our doesn't.

    Now taxes; I hear you there.

    yea, were probably building stealth or some other technology into our satellites that might make them harder to shoot down or blind with ground based lasers.

    Yes, most programs have both CLI and GUI. I don't see any reason to change this. GUI's can have a steep learning curve too. Check out Blender.

    AutoCAD 12 for DOS was good so was 14 for windows but 13 for windows was terrible. It's like back then it was best to skip the odd numbered upgrades. I don't remember 12 for DOS having much of a GUI though. Maybe it did, I just don't remember.

    Ha Ha funny. What did you use it for? Acad at first was mostly command line driven. Having a digitizing tablet helped back then. They finally got the GUI right at version 14. Those wise people didn't have a plan. It just worked out the way it did sorta like Microsoft got rich because of all of the wise people that worked there.

    I'm probably going to get burned a the stake for this but I think the shuttle is probably the finest spacecraft ever built.

    The government quit sending up Apollo missions because at some point there would have been catastrophic failure there as well.

    The reason NASA is going with a capsule instead of winged vehicle has to do with the speed of reentry. 17,000+mph for low earth orbit and maybe 24,000mph roughly for coming back from the moon and mars. With shuttle you could build big stuff in orbit. Sending up multiple launches that all have to succeed has it's own risk.

    They are already more efficient. I have a 3W MagLite that runs on 2AA and will blind you.

    Mercury in the CFL's are not as much of a concern as mercury in those 4' flouro's of the commercial buildings, but maybe they are more likely to be recycled.

    Eating tuna might be more of a problem though.

    That ain't how it works. A (lowest bidder) contractor builds it, gets paid and that's it. The state maintains or is supposed to maintain it. Sometimes these bids aren't entirely fixed either. There might be an allowance for extra barrels for instance. The contractor might get his real money that way, but there ain't know way he comes back to fix it if at all possible. The state hires 10 guys to fix it. 3 work while the other 7 talk. Your tax dollars at work.

    We'll I wanna say this. I am 99 and five 9's sure the outcome will NOT be good. Democracy has never been imposed successfully on one country by another. I've always thought it had to happen for within. If a country's people don't like their form of government then it's up to them to do something about it, usually paid for in blood. That's the only way it will have any lasting effect. Even so after a few generations things will likely revert back after 200 or 300 years seems to be the maximum length of time that it can last.

    Tungsten melts at 1925K so I guess they would need a very powerful magnet to deflect the plasma if NASA didn't want the probe to burn up. So the probe therefore would have to be kept at a distance just t send a radio signal back to earth. Maybe I ought to rta?

    Like I've said before, electric cars could remove most of the things and lot of other excess parts. Lithium batteries can make it work. You might not get the range of current vehicles, but aren't there plugins everywhere when you need more fuel.
