Boy, you might be legally retarded.
They have a Mac version because, um, it's their company, and they own it.
They have a windows version to increase their market share.
They don't have a mac version because they do not believe it will increase their market share enough to absorb the cost of porting. And they pay very smart people to tell them these things.
Mod parent down for being an ass.
I've read the books. 3 times. That's why it jumped out at me. However, for the second time this month I must warn a friend not to read a/. article because it contains a movie spoiler in it. The first was worse for me because I had not seen the movie (Nor read the book, but then again I don't think I'd want to read the Matrix Revolutions book after seeing it).
First off, slashdot is not one big person. Some of us want our software bundled, and speak up at the appropriate time. Some of us want our software modular, and speak up at the appropriate time. Some of us (Like me) want some stuff modular, some stuff bundled.
Secondly, popup blockers being bundled into the browser isn't "The Microsoft way" of throwing everything and the kitchen sink into one application. You get popups when (and only when) using a web browser. Period. So it should be a feature of the browser. And it is in Mozilla (So I use it). What is "The Microsoft Way" is bundling a chat program, web browser, email, news reader, spreadsheet, word processor, and OS into the same application. Sadly, Mozilla does most of this too, which I think is a bit too much (Though I do use their email program. It R0x0rZ).
D00d! W|-|3r3 D1d J00 r34D 7h15!?
Seriously, where did you read it? Did they take into account people reading text like the above adn scentinces writing with bad gramar adn speling?
As a tech support guy, I just want to give this man a hearty "Thank You"
"I don't have a control key. I have an alt key and this little wavy square, and next to that is a curtl key. And I hit that and backspace and it doesn't do anything."
Thanks, man.
(ps: yes, I know he didn't intend it for the end user. It's a JOKE. Read it, chuckle, give me mod points, and move on)
I assume he's being referred to as a MS Psychologist because he is, in fact, a MS Psychologist. Just a gut feeling on my part (And a healthy dos of RTFA)
I have no problem with the '4 type' rule, but they could make it even easier.
You could even work on it to mix common and uncommon letters, putting the common ones first and the uncommon ones 2nd, and the damn right rare ones last.
Like so: (Taken from 'etaoinshrdlu' and just tossed the rest of the letters in there)
1 2 3 edm tlp auq
4 5 6 obv icw nfx
7 8 9 sgy hjz rk.
# 0 * .........
The periods signify 'common symbols' that I don't really care to think about. Enter, backspace, and space seem good ideas for #, 0, and *'s main character, with a mode where that's all they are.
Anyway, I've given this too much though for how late in the post it's going to end up.
I play golf and I play Battlefield 1942. Desert Combat mostly, but still. I bought my golf clubs at uBid for about $100. I've spent maybe 30 more dollars on cheap golf balls over the past 2 years, and my local City course (Which is well kept up, mind you) charges me less than $20 for 18 holes. So, 130 bucks to get started and 20 bucks to get out for quite a few hours. I figure in about 4 years (70 rounds or so) I'll start getting near 1500, and that's including the 130 I spent on the offset. As for my computer, I spent about $500 on it (And did NOT build it myself) with an additional $70 for a 512 memory stick and got a GEforce2 from a friend for free. But really, what does a GEforce 2 cost these days? So we'll say $600 bucks. Now, I pay $20 a month for my internet connection (Soon 35, yay to DSL!) and any new games I want are usualy 30-50 bucks, depending on the discounts and how long I want to wait. So, saying I buy 2 games a year, that's about 3 years before I reach 1500, or, considering I've "already" spent the 600 on the rig, about 2 years for the total to come to 1500. So, where did this number come from? Oh, and FYI my machine runs every game I've bought, up to and including Battlefield and GTA3, and I assume, when I get my DSL going, I will be able to play them all online (Well, not GTA3:)
Um... I own a lava lamp, and have owned 3 in my lifetime. My current one is displayed proudly in the front window of my house where I and my wife (Who bought it for me) live. My first lava lamp was purchased by me by my first "real" girlfriend in high school. We lived together for seven years, through high school and college, and when that first lava lamp broke (Her sister didn't understand that it was NOT all one unit, and picked it up by the base, quite violently) I myself purchased my second one, which said first girlfriend took with her when we, ahem, parted ways. I was lavalampless for a couple years (And a couple short term relationships) until I met my current wife.
Looks to me like a lava lamp has HELPED my relationships with women. Lack of lamp, lack of relationship.
I got a ticket for 27 in a 25, and I was a white kid driving through a white neighborhood. I think it was age profiling, though. This was back when I was 16.
Personally? I get my insurance check, pay off the house, and either move or rebuild. Then I buy a new computer and start again.
IOW, the most important stuff on my hard drive is backed up off site (At work) and it's a pretty small amount of stuff. Everything else is games that I can replace after I take care of the important part, the house.
Mario Kart's one of those things that you either get or you don't. I logged many, many hours on Mario Kart for my N64 and can tell you, I've seen people crying they're laughing so hard at the end of a race, and people sitting across the room because they gave up in disgust at how stupid the game is.
I think it has to do with "Form Over Function" people. If the graphics are good, the soundtrack is fairly fresh and expensive sounding, and there's some (Or a lot of) blood, they'll like the game even if it plays like crap. That's just the way people are.
It doesn't have the flashy effects (Church's Ghost et al) but the effects it does have get the job done, and these guys put a lot of work mixing the music with the video. They should be directing music videos.

Then the truth wins and the tourist dollars go to Las Vegas where they belong.

It is NOT 112640 meters! It's only 110,000 meters!
Grrrrr, ecode rips spaces, and I don't preview. You get the point.

For $400 bucks, I can buy a bajillion CDs and back up that way.
And go out to dinner with the wife, and maybe get some drinks.
And a new puppy.

Gotta find the humor, man:
"We had just done two days of tests and everything went well - 100%. Everybody is devastated"
Maybe now they'll sue the people who wrote the code they used!

Nintendo tends to cater to the rest of us.

I occationally will say "Red Programmer needs food badly!" before heading out to lunch, much to the dismay of my cubemates.
I for one welcome our new robot masters.
