Plenty of ignorance to go around.
I have a small office with 3 Maketbot 2s and 2 Makerdot 5s running PLA. Occasionally the smell is enough to make me leave the room, but I've found that a change in diet will clear that right up.
This has been going on since the early days of personal photography. When I worked for a film processor in the 70's our darkrooms were wallpapered with copies of
the "party pics". When we moved the plant to a new location there were several large boxes of them. I think the boss's kid kept them.
When my wife and I were in Fiji years ago she would set the nice shells she had collected that day out on the deck to dry out. In the morning the shells was scattered and the best were always gone.
It was like a crab used car lot where they drive in with a Pinto and leave with a Porsche. A one stop shop that I'm sure the crabs appreciated.
When my son turned 12 I bought him a box of parts and we put together his first pc. 3 years later we've upgraded virtually every part and I don't mind at all because he now has a machine that is customized to the interests he has developed.(3D drawing and gaming, natch)So far,we just plan on spending X$ each year to keep him current.
When my daughter turned 12, she wanted a laptop. We did not opt for the extended warantee and it has been in for repairs twice, once at Compaq's expence, once at ours. The cost has been about the same but she is stuck with the same RAM, the same monitor,(the boy is up to a 22",she is still and forever will be 15"),the same chip, same video card. It will never get better for her until I find the way to upgrade for less than $1500.If I can't fix it i don't want it.My own laptop is essential but it's my sweet box next to my right foot that gets USED!
Anybody have any experience with Dark Basic?http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/ My son has made some simple 3D games that look good to me (I am not a programer), but I am wondering if this would eventually have some limits and if his time might be better spent on something like Python.
An easy to use open source XML weather data base app is avaialable from http://www.laszlosystems.com/demos/weather/. Works great if you have a zip code, outside the US you may be on your own.
My first thought also. My Grandfather bought one of those new in the early 60's. He said the salesman claimed it was the "car of 1965".It did have some impressive suspension features, but I never got over the embarrasment of being seen in such a unworldly and hideous mashup of metal.
I also can attest to this case's amazing silence, it is truly peacefull in the room now.(Not to nitpic but mine is spelled "Antec"). As for the LEDs I also have them on the mouse that runs my speakers (Accoustic Authority), and with all the sheiled metal cabling my corner is positively glowing! It'a nice to have a truly silent case when listening to Rammstein at 180w/channel!
FWIW: I saw this setup at Alki beach(in Seattle) this spring. And while it was definetly an eyecatcher,I guess what was most noticable was the lack of dirt on either vehicle.
I appreciate that PBS has made this "re-broadcast" possible. Now I can share it with my son who missed it fist time around.I also enjoyed Cosmos and it would be great to see it again in this format.
Absolutely! The first I read of this was in the '60s (Popular Science/Mechanics?). I wanted one to attach to the floor for earth shaking bass, but it seems that low end is the weak point in most of these iterations. I couldn't conceive at the time that all I would have to do was park my car in the living room.

For fun turn on closed captioning and watch cable news. Here are a few gems from a CNN report on the death of Teller last week:
"cold war hock"
"nuclear deturnt"
"Loss Alamos"
Although the words are readable, having to translate on the fly makes for some herky jerky reading.
And many more I can't recall. Does anybody know if they type these transcripts live? Wouldn't you think that a taped report could have some kind of spell checker?
I pay $1.00 for color at Kinkos in Seattle. I think BW is $.50. For an occasional homework cover sheet for the kids it's great. You can specify standard or glossy finishes, and weights from 20 to 60#. The default printer is a Fiery(sp),but you can also print on a Tektronics if you are in a hurry. My son's artwork looks like a magazine cover and I will NEVER change another color cartrage again!
Jeebus! Now I know who was calling me at 12:05 AM every Saturday morning a few years back. I thought it was the FBI pinging for pervs using Aol! Thanks Animats.
I thought you were classifying nipples.... Damn glasses.
Just in case? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
I put exactly one drop of grapefruit oil in each glass of my home made IPA. I count that as juice.

Cat's out of the bag now.
Murdoch is Catholic, unless you read Stormfront or Ron Paul newsletters.
who can't get the words Large Hardon Collider out of my mind. Once I thought it I see it every time.

"Some people think that a glass is half empty while others see it as half full." Some people think the glass is just too damn big.
OK, so I'll stop saying "Suzy", but what about Debbie-Ann?

Having lots of guns makes it a lot harder for these guys to go on killing ME.
